I really love Deniro in this

That father figure was amazing, love it

i was thinking how awesome an actor he is to be so convincing as both a mob boss and as a straight-laced working man.

100%. It’s one of his more subtle roles & performances (the complete opposite of the characters he’s known for playing in mob movies), but he still leaves quite an impact. Super believable as the honest, hard-working, and loving father trying his hardest to keep his son from hanging with the wrong crowd.

Bobby D’s direction was solid, but his performance definitely left a bigger mark.

I really liked him in Sleepers; same type of role.

I liked him as well. He was sort of coy about his own upbringing and he seemed like he was as smart as the Mob guys, but he just didn't roll that way. He wasn't some white bread cardboard Dad, and he did have faults. He kind of talked like a Wise Guy, but he was a Working Man at heart. I thought Rob Deniro played it very well, especially in contrast to some of the others actors.

reply

Yeah, he plays a really cool bus driver in this. lol...

this movie was kinda sucky to be honest.

He was the best thing about the film (didn’t much care for Chazz Palminteri who trod familiar ground). Passable movie with one solid performance.

I watched this film last night and I loved it! De Niro is one of my favorite actors of all time! I've seen so many of his films like Taxi Driver, Once Upon a Time in America, The Good Shepherd, Jackie Brown, Analyze This, and many more.

He played against type.
