What scene scared you the most?

Jurassic park is one of my favorite films this film
Did also scare me as a kid

I just would like to know what scene scared you the most ? Me it is a tie between the T-Rex breakout and Raptors in the kitchen

reply

Being 5 years old when the movie came out, I would always get scared of the raptor scenes. Where they are first seen by Lex and Tim by the resaurant and hiding in the kitchen. To make it worse, my brother literally chased me around our home pretending to be a raptor, snarling sounds included. Was so bad he made me cry haha.

reply

Oh, man. Nothing compares to the T-Rex breaking out. That first roar she lets loose? Gives me chills every time.

The Raptors in the kitchen is a close second though.

As well as Ellie and the Raptor in the maintenance shed. Can you imagine being in a small, confided space with a Raptor? No, thank you.

reply

The T-Rex scene was just perfect storm it had everything you would expect and yes it still remains scary even today and the roar prove she meant business.

The Raptors in the kitchen was pretty tense from the get go and how the Raptors were actually toying with the kids like it was a game.

Ellie in the maintenance shed that is like a horror movie scene being trapped in a small, confided space with a dangerous hunter one Raptor is bad enough if it had been a pack with her in the shed she would have been out of luck but thankful she was able to escape also Mr.Arnold's arm that falls on her that is scary enough in it own right.

I was 13 when I saw it, so not a real little kid, and to me it was more just awesome and incredible than scary. I was so blown away by the special effects that I didn't get scared by any of the dinosaurs. But I did find a couple of non-dino scenes very tense and a frightening prospect, probably because of my hatred of heights. When they were up in the tree with the truck and climbing the fence as it was about to be powered up.

"Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie son?"

reply

Those two scenes were very tense I agree there and oh yeah the special effects rock because how they use everything to make the Dinosaurs look real and it still holds up and I am still amazed even to this day how they were able to make the Dinosaurs look so real my favorite being the puppet work they had for the Dinosaurs.

The thought of being stuck in a tree with a car coming down as you try to escape is scary in it own right and the Fense scene was pretty good

reply

I was a full grown up when I first saw this movie, and yet the scene with the raptor trying to get the kids in the car scared the sh!t out of me.
Seeing previous posts saying "I was 5 - I was 7 - when I saw this on theater" geez!! what were you parents thinking?! can't believe this was not forbidden to kids less than 12 in the US, like it was in my country-very rightfully so imho.

T-rex attack. My heart was pounding, all three times I saw it in the theater! Everyone got so caught up in it. I remember, quite distinctly, my first time; people actually jumped when the leg hit the sunroof, and screamed and cried out when Gennaro got killed, my mother said "Oh, God!" and then laughed, finding it terrifying and yet hilarious at the same time. The Tyrannosaurus looked so huge up there on that screen, like it was going to eat us all! The final earth-shattering roar after the Explorer is pushed over the cliff really gave the theater's sound system a good workout. The first time, it was only when the scene ended and cut back to the guys in the control room futzing with Nedry's computer that I realized I was breathing hard and my heart was pounding. The second time, I tried to steel myself up. After all, I knew what was coming, didn't I? But somehow, that only made me dread it more. That strange combination of dread mixed with anticipation. If anything it was more terrifying the second time. By the third time I wasn't scared anymore, but it still had my heart thumping from how exciting it was.

I mean, really, how many times will you look under Jabba's manboobs?

reply

Now that is quite the story and yeah the whole T-Rex scene still holds up as one of the most terrifying moments in movie history I still get tense during that scene though it's one of my favorite parts of the movie what made it more scary is that no music was playing during the scene which work well

Jurassic Park is a classic and yes you're right The Raptors were scary each time they were on screen forget Freddy, Forget Jason the Velociraptors were the real horror to see on the screen and how well they worked together made them even more of a threat. The T-Rex breaking out scene it remains a well thought out well done scene because the build up even more tense as the crowd waited for the T-Rex to appear and when she did the game has change.

I like how they had to use guitar strings for the glass of water and the story behind it to get it so perfectly done

Yeah The Raptors were a smart choice to be the main antagonist of the movie no other monster from the movies scared me more then the Raptors I remember as a kid having to hide in the next room or under the covers when the raptors appear. The Kitchen scene was just smart and still gives me chills even today because how the Raptors were taking their time they knew the children were inside but The Big One wanted to play a dangerous game with them. Even in the book it is really tense.

It's scenes like the T-Rex break out which helps make Jurassic Park and still one of my most favorite movies and perhaps my favorite of the 90s the scene was well thought out and the cast made you believe they were in real danger like from what I heard the glass breaking with the T-Rex and the car the T-Rex wasn't suppose to break the roof of the car so it was done inadvertently but the fact the kids only had the glass to protect themselves from the T-Rex

It's hard to top a classic like Jurassic Park they took a gamble and it pay off big time I can watch the movie for a week and still be amazed by it.

As for the book it is a good read despite some setbacks that I think could have been done without and I meant no disrespect to Michael Crichton may he rest in peace but some of the book could have use without some topics but that's another story.

The book gave more character details along with characters that didn't appear in the movie but were in the original script written by Michael Crichton plus Donald and Robert had a much bigger and important role in the book John Hammond was also a villain in the book unlike his character in the movie plus Ellie got to be a clever girl in the book and the book was more graphic and I can keep going about the book but I have to give it a 8/10 but you would enjoy it

You are very welcome always happy to help out Plus the book has some quotes and scenes that could have been use in the movie but no matter. And you'll be surprise what kind of villain John Hammond is in the book. I need to get another copy of the book I use to have it until I let someone borrow it never return it.

Plus the book has a lot of twists and turns that you don't see coming and you might feel tense for a copy parts of the book I look forward to hearing you getting the book

Sweet to hear

ah, ah, ah ... Jeff Goldblum.

Easy. When Lex fell through the ceiling tiles and they grabbed her and tried to pull her up before the raptor could jump and get her legs! I remember actually pulling my own legs up in my theater seat instinctively I was so into it. And I was 30 yo!

reply

The movie can scare any one regardless of age

reply

The dilophosaurus suddenly being in the Jeep.

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing .
