This was actually a hit movie

At first this movie would seem like a box office flop, costing 30 million or so and grossing only about 6 million.

However, like so many movies of the 80's and 90's this movie definitely found a new home, in video rentals.

I remember working at a video store in the 1990's and this was available. It rented almost every night. it was one of the few movies that even rented on weekdays outside of any nightly promotions.

As evidence to the movie's popularity, the old DVDs are available on Ebay and usually sell for a lot of money for a DVD.

It's fun to watch for the Dana Delaney nudity.

It would be better to say it was a failure at the box office since it made less than 7 million worldwide, but it seemed to be popular as a video rental. How much the latter made up for the former monetarily is unknown.
