How long were Muriel + David married?

The movie moves very quickly from the wedding to Muriel's mother's death, and the first time I watched it, it seemed like it was within a few days, and when Muriel and Rhonda leave Porpoise Spit together, they don't take any luggage, which makes it seem like the old apartment hasn't been let go yet and Rhonda's things are still there.

However, when Muriel tells David she can't stay married to him, she says, "good luck in the games", which would seem to indicate they had been married at least the four months he needed to qualify to compete for Australia. And after the wedding, Rhonda tells Muriel that she couldn't make it on her own in Sydney and had moved back to her mother's house.

I wondered that too. Rhonda didn't even take her purse. I am sure a woman in her condition would require some medication as well. Even if her stuff had been left in the apartment, she would need at least something. ID at least!
I think it is implied that they were married 4 months. Muriel did the decent thing and left after the required amount of time.

Actually, it's implied that David and Muriel hasn't been married for 4 months. It clearly shows that Muriel backed out on the deal that's why she offered to give David his money back. Also, when Muriel's mother died, she was still on the cover of the magazines, meaning the wedding just happened very recently.

This is my problem with her character even if I like the film. She has screwed over every single person in her life, from start to end, and she screwed David as well. What happens to him now? Marry another girl at such a short time? Woodbridge it be too suspicious by then?
