Spacey's character

I have seen this movie several times, and I am curious, does Kevin Spacey's character die? It is never actually shown in the movie that he does.

The last time you see Casey he's in the advanced stage of Motaba - too far to have benefitted from the antiserum. It is never specifically stated, but I always assumed that he died.

reply

You don't need to be genious to work out that he died.

reply

and most people don't even need to be a GENIUS to spell GENIUS. but i guess your not one of those people

reply

When you make fun of another person's spelling, at least try to get it right yourself. Among your many grammar problems, you used "your," which is a posessive term. The correct form for that context is "you're."
I'm not a grammar nazi, I just hate it when people make fun of others' grammar and spelling and do a terrible job themselves.

reply

Also, Nazi is spelled with a capital 'n'. Don't correct others when you yourself are incorrect, a$$hole.

come get some, you walking piles of puss...
I'm armed and ready.

reply

It would only be spelled with a capital N if it was being used as a proper noun. When you are using it in the phrase "grammar nazi" it is not a proper noun but an adjective to the word "grammar" so it is not capitalized.

reply

This is truly a funny threat--- I mean, thread ....... How the hell are you going to be condescending to someone when you misspelled Genius?

Weta has worked on SEVEN movies? and you ll hate on ILM?????? Pathetic

reply

I love a good thread on Lethal Hot agents and Nazism. Two FANTASTIC subjects of study..anyone else with me on this?!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...got HIM!!!

When Dustin Hoffman's character talks to Morgan Freeman's character he says something like "Them are responsible for Casey dying, My wife is dying" It was something like that but he did say he died.

Of course he died it was a strain of the ebola virus if you did not know this it is deadly and kills humans in 2 days.

reply

I was wondering: did he get it when he ripped his suit or before, because he seemed to be in the beginning stages right before his suit ripped.

Mr. Cellophane shoulda been my name, Mr. Cellophane....

reply

he was tired

reply

I thought about this question to and they never said or mentioned him dying which is to me very annoying but I think that he did supposedly die unfortunately . . .

reply

yeah i'm watching it now they do and he did die!

Kidding! I'm not that dumb, just shallow!
I need to get out more!

reply

He didn't get it until the suit ripped. He was exhausted -- he hadn't slept in something like 48-72 hours (maybe more at that point), and exhaustion causes people to make mistakes.

He most certainly did die.

reply

Just recently watched this and im sure when Sam says to billy about casey dying, he hadnt died then as it then showed a scene with casey and rene russo's character and he wasn't dead. However considering how far gone bad he was I would be surprised if he survived. I'm only guessing that Sam just assumed he had died at this point

reply

I asked that myself, too. I'm sure he died, although I hoped he would not...

reply

Probably died, but I'd like to think that he didn't because that character ruled. Poor guy. *tears*

:~)

reply

He DID die. Dustin Hoffman's character said "...responsible for Casey dying...my wife is dying." The way it is said indicates that Casey is dead, his wife would soon be dead. Pretty cut and dry.

reply

Good point. But, get your facts straight... Hoffman says "responsible for casey dying" right after casey goes into shock. But yea, he more than likely dies.

Ihr seit versuchte Hunde!

reply

Do you people even watch the movie?

Yes, Daniels says "'We' is responsible for Casey dying," but later on there is a scene with Casey and Robbie, and he looks a lot worse. It is implied he dies right there and then, and someone did mention what sounds like a flatline, but nothing definitive is shown. You can assume he didn't last long enough to benefit from the new anti-serum.

Seriously. Pay attention. It's not that difficult.

And learn how to spell. All of you. Sheesh.

reply

Yeah, I think you can hear a flatline in the background when Robby's holding his hand.

Cyanide? Fester... As if we'd run out!

reply

he's dead, i found the script and poor old casey is definately dead :(

i would think so....
wounder why they didnt show him dieing....they probaly cut it out.

reply

I'm honestly not a troll and I hope I'm not reading too much into things, but did anyone else get the feeling that Spacey's character was implied to be gay and attracted to Hoffman? He just seems to look at him in a meaningful way in the beginning, and later before he dies he says he had a wonderful dream and that Hoffman was there...if I'm reading too much into things, ok, but am I the only one who felt like something was being implied there?

reply

When he says he had a dream and "you were there" I think he was mocking Dorethy from the Wizard of Oz. I don't think it's implying he was gay.

I'm still standing.

reply

hahaha why does Kevin Spacey die is soo many films???!

reply

Mocking lines from the Wizard of Oz???
He couldn't possibly be gay...

"I was playing the RIGHT notes...just not necessarily in the right order"

reply

I think the character looks and behave gay (I even think the great Kevin Spacey is).

reply

did anyone else get the feeling that Spacey's character was implied to be gay and attracted to Hoffman
Well, maybe your (sp?) gay - and not in a good way...

Anyway, why all the hostility, peoples? Can't we have a friendly discussion without accusing each other of stupidity merely because of little, innocuous misspellings?

Jeez, did I spell misspellings correctly? Do you see what you've done to me? You've filled me with inhibitions. I need counseling before I can post again...

reply

Based on the typical ways in which movies tend to interpret real life, it's understandable that one could jump to the assumption that perhaps Kevin Spacey's character had a chance of surviving.

reply

He died. 'Nuff said.

Based on the stage of disease he had developed his chances to survive were a bit worse than chances of a person drinking coffee in the open air in the center of Hiroshima one certain morning...
