Hmmmm... I wonder why the GERMAN director didn't think of that in preproduction?

I'm sure it was said in an earlier post but I didn't want to read them all to find out.

Bad Statements posted with thinking beforehand!

1. LOL The virus didn't pass the canadian and mexican border.

2. i agree with pedro, americans think far too much of themselves, not only that, but they say they want to help the world and yet their main concern is themselves?

Answers:

1.The reason why would be air travel and the borders would be closed to contain the virus = Think

2.What country gave the most to tsunami victims = USA
What country was the first to give money to earthquake victims in iran and Pakistan = USA
And comeon if you were dying of ebola for instance in congo what you give a $hit about the rest of the world.

Good Statements bravo!

1. I get really tired of the "America Bashing" all the time. This was an American made movie (as most are) about a virus IN AMERICA! It doesnt mean we dont care about the rest of the world! It just meant that if the virus were contained, it would never get the chance to spread to the rest of the world. by Kryls

2. Pedro...why the hell do you think that American filmmakers owe the world something by representing them in this movie? The movie focuses on a small American city, not the world. Why do you people insist on putting down American films. And to show all of America getting infected is part of the plot. What sense would it make to show Germany getting infected? Not much. What sense would it make to show France getting infected...well it would and no one would care, but that's besides the point. People watching the movie would feel that they missed something if the animation shows a country other than the host country being infected.

I'd call the French scum bags but that would be a disservice to bags filled with scum. Fuuny but true by HeavyMetal4Ever

3. Really, it doesn't mean anything. Like someone else said, if it were to happen in Russia, they'd show a Russian map. And plus, the director is from Germany. He's not some American patriot bloke. by jezpuh

4. Nope Canada and Mexico are not part of the United States of America they're part of North America. By caisus_britannicus

Yeah last time I looked the United States of America had 50 states not 94 (Canada 10 provinces and 3 territories) and (mexico 31 states) and the population was 298 million not 438.
It not the united states of north America.

''d call the French scum bags but that would be a disservice to bags filled with scum. Fuuny but true by HeavyMetal4Ever'

do you not think this is hypocritical? What makes you Americans better than the french?

'Yeah last time I looked the United States of America had 50 states not 94 (Canada 10 provinces and 3 territories) and (mexico 31 states) and the population was 298 million not 438.
It not the united states of north America.'

that wasnt the guys point; he called it America; not 'the united states of north america'

I am sick of all this 'bashing' mainly because its too easy :-) The Americans are all 'left-winged' music, films, tv all of it; yet they still elect republican governemnts. This is a perfect example of american attitude; all talk and no actions.

In relation to the film, the map is going to be focused on USA because they are more concerned with themselves to care about the world - after all, isnt the film about the military containing the virus and preventing the creation of an antidote so that it can use the biological weapon in warfare at a future date? if thats not american thinking - i dont know what is :-)

I think everyone just got TROLLED by the OP >_<

yeah, this post is about 12 years old and it is current. People still argue the egocentrism of americans (and their ignorance of other countries and cultures) as a bad thing, because they remain that way. After 12 years, we continue to see self-absorved, narrow-minded americans posting here. How funny is that?
Yeah: no troll by the OP.

In the mentioned case: global = non-local area on the globe. USA is a big landscape on the globe. Global does not mean = everywhere on the whole globe. It will cease being local (Cedar Creek) and start spreading in a global area, beginning on the continent of America. From there it would spread to other countries on the globe eventually. Including every country in the world, when you are discussing a matter in your own country (at least for the time being) wouldn't make sense.

The best thing is that after showing that he says "think objectively, think globally" as if globally was what he was showing.
