I think with the amount of water it was showing. I wouldn't have been that salty from dilution.
shareLifeboats often come with a desalination kit - I assumed they were using something like that. You could guess that making such kits has become a low tech industry in the larger floating communities - which might be a stretch given current ones use a specialist membrane. But there would be other ways to make a kit perhaps using evaporation and condensation?
