Did Anyone Suspect Dewey The First Time Watching It?

Well?

reply

Yes I did

Yes!!! I think this movie intentionally misleads you, Dewey is awkward, and mysteriously shows up right after a murder happens. He says he would "stick around" for a party. Of course we suspect him, right after Billy is erroneously "cleared" the first time.

Yes

Nope, but my gran did. Then she suspected him again in Scream 2. She's kind of an idiot.

I suspected everyone when I saw it in the theater. Dewey and Randy were both great red herrings (especially Dewey's scene after the killer calls Sidney at his house, since he takes so long to come out of his room), but I remember thinking Stu was the killer near the end of the party scene. Billy was a surprise to me.

Not as many people seem to mention Randy when they list out their suspects (of course, EVERYONE was essentially a suspect save for Sid), but I thought it was him when he made that funny voice and talked about "her liver in the mailbox" or whatever. Both he and Stu acted the most indifferent/insensitive about Casey's murder IMO.

I didn't suspect him, but I can definitely see why one would — the film makes quite the red herring out of him: Showing up holding the mask right after Sidney's attack; we see him walking into the school right before Himbry is killed; that shot of him smiling as he watches Tatum walking to the garage, etc
