If you're a fan of Batman '66

... then I can't understand how you could dislike this film. If this were made in the 60's with Adam West and Burt Ward it would have been the best Batman film without changing a single part of the script. To me this film is all about expectations, if you expect Nolan you'll hate it, if you expect campy 60's Batman then it's just as good as anything from that era.

The 66 series was a comic masterpiece, with layers of subtlety on top of layers of absurdity.
This movie was just laughable, but not as a comedy.

I loved the movie because it reminded me of the TV series I loved so much as a child, but it had more serious elements that I thought were good since the series had played everything mostly for comedy. It was a refreshing change. The only thing I did not like was the sexual innuendo line the Poison Ivy character said. I thought that did not belong in a movie that was so like the 66' TV series. George Clooney was very good and I think he is the best Batman ever and should reprise the role again someday as long as it is done similar to the TV series. The critics wanted the original idea of the Batman-dark, foreboding and not a truly good hero. If anyone remembers, many critics said the same thing about Christopher Reeves portrayal and the script of the first Superman movie. Many of them like the original idea of Superman as played by George Reeve. But I and many others loved that changed vision of Superman.

Well, I have never liked Batman '66... Oh, wait, I lie... I liked it when I first was exposed to it in '67. I was nine.
On the other hand I have always loved silver age Batman and that is why I really rather like Batman and Robin. It seems to channel the spirit of the somewhat mad (time travel, aliens, magic, other dimensions, insane gadgets) silver age of Batman, Superman and the whole lot of DC heroes.

Hmm. Well I'd be interested in which 60s actresses would play Poison Ivy and Bat girl.
