The most rewatchable movie ever

I've lost count on how many this movie is repeated over here in the UK but I watch it nearly every single time when I can. It's just faultlessly entertaining. Rachel Weiz is adorable, Brendan fraiser is super charismatic, Benny and Jonathan are hilarious, Aderth bay is cool, fun plot, colourful setting, there's too many great elements I just never get bored at any moment the pace is excellent.

The only movies that rivals it's rewatchabilty for me is Rush Hour 2 and the Mummy Returns ( I love it as well, don't see a big difference between the two's quality)

Oh tell me about it. It's one of those movies as soon as it's finished I'll replay instantly twice in a row. I love all the characters the chemistry the music and even the colour. I really wish it went another half hour longer. I loved the character development.

My Internet went out for a few days and so we had to dust off the DVDs and found The Mummy. I had forgot how great this movie was my family, even my four year old who usually only pays attention to cartoons, watched it like every day this week and I was just thinking man this must be the most re-watchable movie ever. It was the perfect formula for a Blockbuster film.

I am so happy other people feel this way! I have watched this movie dozens and dozens of times - basically every time its on tv which is always lol! The chemistry between Rachel Weiz and Brendan Fraser, the location, adventurous plot I just love it. Same goes for the second one! (must admit I've never seen the 3rd one, cant bring myself to watch it/acknowledge its existence with Rachel Weiz having been replaced. I also refuse to accept this reboot discussion, Tom Cruise may be in them?! nooooo!!

I also feel this way about the original Jurassic Park trilogy and Night at the Museum lol!

I completely agree. I was eleven years old when the film first came out, and I was thrilled when I saw it in theaters. It's been a go-to for myself, my family and some of my friends ever since whenever we wanna watch something silly and fun to lighten the day.

And it's always an incredibly easy and enjoyable watch that never gets old. In the 15+ years since it was first released, I wouldn't be exaggerating to say I've probably seen it well over 50 times easily... Probably way more.

I've actually since ended up purchasing it whenever it gets a new release on any new home media formats. Owned the VHS tape (in fact I still think that old tape is laying around somewhere), the standard Special Edition DVD, the 2-Disc Ultimate Edition DVD, the standard Blu-Ray and I recently re-bought the film in a 2-Disc DVD/Blu-Ray combo. (It was one of those nice steelbook releases Universal released a year or two back of a lot of their action/comedy films that have comic-book inspired artwork.)

I also very much adore the second film and the first Scorpion King spin-off. And I'm one of the few people who didn't think Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was all that bad (worst of the three for sure, but not the attrocity against cinema it's made out to be), so at least once a year now I tend to have days where I'll marathon the trilogy with friends or family.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!

I agree! This movie has everything action, horror, romance, comedy, adventure and all that good for a family movie time on a Sunday. It probably has the best blueprint for a great crowd-pleasing blockbuster movie without it being convoluted, stale and diminishing in returns on re watch. Immensely rewarding every time I see it.

Totally agree. It's a perfect example of Hollywood done right. Big, dumb beautifully presented entertainment with great characters, just enough humour and tons of action and mystery.

Ok the VFX are looking ever so slightly creaky now but that doesn't take away from the almost perfect pacing of the film itself. The sequel was just more of the same but that's no bad thing.

The third one was meh though.

A proper old-school adventure film made in a (relatively) modern time. Such a shame they're rebooting it with what looks like a very po faced product.

All the cgi issues in the future are so easily fixed too like they did with TOS Star Trek, and in that sense, I don't think this film can ever really be dated.

I find a lot of films rewatchable for different reasons but if we're talking about fun and entertaining films, I'll put this up there with Back to the Future actually and I agree with another poster's recommendation of Galaxy Quest.

The Godfather trilogy are my favorite films but they're a different sort to this one.

Awh man you hit the nail on the head! Rush Hour 2 is excellent and I watched the Mummy Returns many times over as well.

The Mummy is a well made movie that has so much going for it. When someone tells me its their all time favorite movie I dont even question why.

My favorite piece of trivia for the film is that when they screened the finished film to the studio, they greenlit a sequel when they were only 10 or 15 minutes into watching the film xD they recognized greatness very quickly! And the Mummy Returns was a good sequel too.
