No way this would be allowed.

Maybe this has been discussed before, but I'm just to lazy to do a thorough search. Let's be realistic here. By that I mean, don't say "it's just a movie".
The part when Robbie is singing at the Bar Mitzvah. Robbie puts down the mic and George takes over the solo on the clarinet. Now, Robbie goes into the crowd and chooses a 13 year old girl for his dance partner. He then places her hands on his ass. That in itself may rise to a criminal act, if not, totally in appropriate. Lets be real; what parent would allow the lead singer of a band, a stranger no less, do that to there daughter? If that was my daughter, I would go out there an knock him right out! Does anyone agree?

Dude, this movie was set in the 1980s, and made in the 1990s. Lots of shit went on in the 1980s that people didn't bat an eyelid to. And when stuff was found out, it got covered up. Nowadays, yes, what Robbie did wouldn't be allowed... even though I'm not saying Robbie was a bad person for doing that... he clearly was just having a joke and not actually trying to seriously flirt with a 13-year-old. It was just a different time. In a way, today's pedo-phobic society have taken the innocence out of everything that was just that, innocent. Even though it's good that predators in 2021 can't get away with things so easily, and things aren't hushed up like they used to be (and I'm not saying I would go back, no way)... it's a shame we can't ever just see things that are innocent for what they are anymore.

That's not acceptable in conservative countries as well, including that fat kid touching Barrymore's bottom. His parents would've hit him in public to let him and everyone know he wasn't raised to do that.

But the west is liberal, by 12 they've had multiple partners. Maybe that's why they look so old and get wrinkles in their 20s.
