I watched 4 and a half seasons of this. I demand answers. Wtf is this about?

Lets get a few things out of the way first:
>"If you dont get it then you dont get it."
You dont need to post this, its not an answer. Apparently you dont get my question either.
>"Go back to watch Transformers."
Yawn, jump off a bridge.

Ok now that 80% of the replies can be omitted, ... what is this about?

1) I was hoping it would be about the mafia. But there's barely ever a mafia moment in this. We see them committing a few crimes sometimes, ok. Like probably-killing a waiter by throwing a rock. Or chasing a guy through the woods. And playing cards. But its always side topics. It actually makes me wonder how they make enough money at all to justify the illegality. Money is mentioned, and displayed, but we never see how its made. Actually even when it's displayed we just see a few hundred $ notes sometimes.

2) We still see mafia things more often than Tony's work in garbage disposal. We see that exactly 0 times. Zero. Zero times.

3) Initially it starts with Tony going to a therapist, but its not about that. By season 5 I think they said 4 years have passed. Who goes to therapy for 4 years with no real purpose at all? Therapy has a goal, you know? In the beginning thats his blackouts. What is it after that? For 4 years.

4) Its not really about the relationships of the people between each other because we barely find out anything about that. They're all the same anyway. Even when Tony gets skin cancer it is mentioned for about 2 minutes of screen time. Characters disappear for several episodes at a time as all of them are disposable. After watching 4 seasons I could at best remember the names of about 3 people outside of his actual biological family.

Maybe its about his annoying son? Or the annoying daughter? The annoying wife? Or the absolutely despicable priest?

In season 4, it's almost as if a plot finally emerged... but only almost. Actually nothing happens.
I skipped the 2nd half of season 5 and the entire season 6 and watched only the last episode and it consistently remained a snorefest about nothing all the way up until the very last second.

I think the clear answer here is that the show just isn't for you, which is fine, but the question for you is why did you watch so much of it? Clearly the entire world was in love with it after season 1--if you watched season 1 and weren't in love with it (quite the opposite, it seems), why did you bother to continue? You clearly weren't seeing it how others were, no worries, move on, don't watch another 50 hours of a show you don't like to then come complain about it on a message board.

If you honestly are looking to an answer to "what is this show about?" it's basically a character study of a man who happens to be a mobster and also a family man in therapy. And his family and associates. If you enjoy watching these characters, you'll enjoy the show; if you don't, you won't. You seem to fall into the latter. No biggie.

I have never felt the urge to watch this despite so many ppl telling me i would love it. To be honest i don't rate long running American TV series even the so called good ones i find they all follow the same formula regardless of subject the dialog and people all have a similar feel that i don't dig.

Breaking Bad was one of the few that i completed from start to finish i find they lure you in with a titillating set up with some hard sex and violence early doors but then as the episodes go on you find yourself zoning out and it's mainly filler with whatever the current politics they want to slip into to you on the side but you stick with it because once you started you want to see how it ends naturally but they take advantage of that and drag you along for series after series cock teasing you.

With the Soprano's i personally felt they made it because The Godfather and Goodfellas are two of the most popular films of all time so it was easy money but those films had World class writing the best Actors and best Directors so why would i want to see a B rate TV version staring people who were extras in those classic films

I've seen bits and pieces of this i want to like it but it makes me cringe seeing shit actors doing Goodfellas impressions with corny dialog
