The topic of sex in Japan must be pretty Tabu

In so many Anime's that I see women are always strongly connected to sex. Either they dress like a school girl, where you can see their ass clearly with huge cleavage (Vampire Hunter D) or they are getting violated sexually in some way. And always when they are violated sexually (not that its enough) their body is always shown gratiously. Im sure I dont have to give examples here.

Also, lets talk about roles. The girls in these movies are always "girls", small petite, bubbly personality, smiling all the time etc etc. Cute and innocent. The MEN however, are almost always the stoic hero who doesnt speak much. He is usually big in size or physicially strong and almost always is in charge and "saves" the girl. Of course, this has led to the opposite in other movies (it is natural that when something has a strong presense people do the opposite, as in the strong women warrior in mononoke or ghost in a shell).

I always get disturbed when watching anime because there is always a strong sexual pervesion. Think about what I wrote above and try to find it in any of these movies: Akira, Ghost in a Shell, Ninja scroll, perfect blue, Vampire Hunter D. And ive probably only watched 10-15 anime movies in my life so I'm sure there is more.

It led me to the conclusion that sex roles in Japan are not only primitive but also perverted. The word "sex" is tabu so the sexual needs arent expressed in a healthy way so they become perverted. Since sexual drive is the strongest in men, it is they that suffer the most. This is expressed in Anime movies as well in forms of women being sexualized and treated as if part of a perverted mans sex dreams. Of course women suffer too, believeing that they should be some type of doll who is a housewife and is nice to her husband and trying to please everyone all the time.

Why am I saying its primitive? Because of the strong roles. STRONG man, WEAK woman. This seems to be the case so often in these animes. Also, the woman is always put at the mercy of the man. When men control women they do so through force. When women control men they use their cunning (crude generalization). BUT, I never see the latter, its just men physicially dominating women over and over and over. Of course, it is to be considered that some of them are pretty old movies and that is expected.

What do you guys think??

You know what I notice? Almost zero drug use/pot smoking. In Japan a single gram is 100 bucks. They're really strict on drugs but prostitution is legal as long as it's not vaginal (meaning...you know, the others are okay). You see all these hyper sexualized kids who have nothing to do. It's probably because they can't even light up every here and there. Sweden as well, is a society that is not tolerant of drug use. Compare the sex/rape stuff you see on anime with how many times you see someone have a joint or better yet use a real drug (even fictional ones count, because it's usually symbolic). Anyway, in Japan IIRC I think men and women take different trains at night because of the possibility of rape? Correct me if I'm wrong. Also, only japan would come out with a game called "Rapelay" which doesn't break any Japanese laws and is a videogame about raping a whole family of women (mother and two daughters) in different positions and "replaying" in different camera angles. The developers also defended themselves (paraphrased) "why is it you can make games about murder but not rape? Murder is a greater offense than rape is". It's a very sexual society, and I can't help feel like the kids in Japan need to unwind. Why is every anime about a high school kid that happens to be 17 years old and has a boner problem? Seriously. Even afterlife in high school. Does that mean life basically ends at high school in Japan?

This particular "issue" is rooted in views of Asian society in general. In India and probably most of Asia, "freedom" is somewhat different from they way Americans view it. To Americans, "freedom" translates to individual freedom. You're for all intents and purposes, allowed to pursue a path in life and even encouraged to do so. But most asians grow up with very specific goals and ideals largely imposed by society "Get good grades. Get married. Start a family. Support the family" etc. You see "Game of Thrones" with the different classes and the feudal system? That's kinda what Asians have lived with over the ages. When western culture was introduced, it started to clash with those beliefs. This movie was filmed in the initial days of what we might call "Globalization" and the clash of cultures is evident. Nowadays, the asian societies are somewhat more liberal but this particular belief system which includes the man being dominant, hasn't faded.

You can't use American lenses to understand Japanese culture, that's just a given. For example, some can say Japanese culture has become more liberated "thanks" to American influence, while some can claim Americans are poisoning their culture. This is a complex issue and I think both are correct viewpoints because every culture has its pros and cons. When a foreign culture gets introduced into an existing one, the low points are easier to assimilate than the high points.

However, it's a mistake thinking that one viewpoint or way-of-doing-things in the social and/or political realm is superior than others. This largely depends on the context and situational factors. Not every group of people in their current state will strive under democracy, not very group of people will be better off with a "empowered female" society, or even, a superb educational model in one country can be a complete disaster in another.

Such a simple fact that gets lost when people think "it doesn't matter your background, we all are citizens of the world and we all are equals", a noble yet naive sentiment, reality doesn't work that way. There will always be differences, there will always be different cultures and there will always be people who think they can pass judgement onto another culture thinking theirs superior without understanding that their culture can't be applicable or passed down as-it-is onto another.
