What got you into Charmed?

I'd never seen the series before. I watched Buffy and Angel but not this. Not sure why. Anyway, early last year, I got into Wicca, and I've been reading up on it. Earlier this year, I decided to check out Charmed on Netflix, because I wanted to see a portrayal of witches (I've been into Bewitched and The Craft for a while). I haven't exactly been impressed with it. I knew it was gonna be a Hollywood take on witches with flashy magic and stuff like that, but the series just feels...juvenile to me (and woefully inaccurate to real Witchcraft). But I just started season 8 last night, so I might as well see it through to the end.

They used to air two eps a day every morning. Kind of ended up watching it by default of no better options.

I watched the Pilot/premeire and that was it for me. I watched all the way through to the series finale. When it started I was 12 and really liked the idea and magic/supernatural world.

I got into Charmed because I was already watching Buffy on the WB so I constantly saw the promotions for the first season. When I saw that Shannen Doherty was going to be in it, the show became a must watch because I loved her on 90210. My interest in Charmed waned when Doherty left. I never liked Rose McGowen. Also, the plots became incredibly silly. In the later seasons I wasn't really watching the show at all, but I saw glimpses of Valhalla, Hogwarts, and Billy Zane (?) and just marveled that the show was still going. Can you believe they did 8 seasons of that show? The other day I was at the gym early in the morning and Charmed was playing on TNT. I can't believe TNT is still playing it every weekday morning after all these years. Anyway, I kept snickering at the silly plot. Piper, Phoebe, and Paige were having a party at the manor and some guys teleport in and trade fire balls with Leo, rip the whole place apart, and after the fight all the party guests act like they didn't see anything. At the end of the episode they turn back time and someone Paige was in love becomes a white lighter or something. So silly. LOL

I had a friend in high school who was nuts about this show, and we watched the tapes she'd recorded it on. It was nice to get a chance to watch it again on Netflix a few years ago, but I had some issues with post-Season 4, because that's when the show switched over to WB (CW now), and the writing got really stupid. However, the show did have many memorable moments, and it was nice to see these 3 sisters grow together and experience all the adventures they did as witches.

Shannen being on TV again. Would have loved to see Luke guest.

I never got into it.

It's funny because a lot of younger Xers and Millennials are getting hyper nostalgic about the 90s and it's funny reading their comments on how things were "so much easier back then" and how TV shows and gamer culture got them through those times. I'm an older Xer and while I get nostalgic for shit like the 80s and late 70s I definitely remember the shitty side of those eras as well. Too many people put rosy tinted glasses on when thinking about the past.
