Am I the only one who enjoyed this movie?

Seriously! While I normally think Martin Lawrence is an idiot, I have to admit that I really liked this movie. It probably had more to do with the great supporting cast rather than Lawrence's "comic genius" (cough cough). I practically fell off my chair during the scene at the banquet/dance when Percival confronts Jamal who points over Percy's shoulder and says "Behold". When Percival actually turned and looked, I almost peed my pants!!!

The movie was just great,so funny,Martin Lawrence is the king of comedy!!!

Mrs.Fiennes is right here!!!

reply

Hell, no, this movie was hilarious. I get crap all the time from my friends for liking it, but to each their own.

it's a GOOD movie but not the BEST movie

the movie is good enough too see it once but i don't think i'm gonna see movie tomorrow again :)

This movie was hilarious. I watched it yesterday for the first time and it is funny. I laughed from beginning to end. If you didn't think this movie was funny then either you have no sense of humor or you let your possible bias against Lawrence get in the way of enjoying a genuiunely funny and good movie.

The only thing I did not like about the movie was the last part when he fell into the water at CastleWorld and was transported into the Roman Empire. Damn, he can't catch a break. He had three lions charging him. There is no room not to do a sequel. I mean how does he get back? What happens to him? There are many unanswered questions.

What gets me is when some people on this board say the movie was bad, but everyone in the cast but Lawrence was good. Can you say bias, bigoted, and bull. Cause he made the movie. If you didn't like it because of Lawrence or because you think it's not funny, then ask yourself why. You don't have to tell me or even reply because I know why.

Excellent comedy!

It was good but it wasn't brilliant.

reply

It's one of the greatest comedies ever made.

reply

Hell, it wasn't THAT bad.

I quite enjoyed it as a matter of fact. It's simple, has a nice plot, and it it's funny.

And besides everyone has a different taste in movies.

Yo--three words: Black Knight II. This time, the BK meets King Arthur! "BKII:Jamal meets Arthur" I think this would be great! And I already have some casting ideas: Timothy Dalton--or Cedric the Entertainer as the King. Colleen Haskell (Season 1 Survivor) would play Guenevere, who develops the hots for Jamal. But Jamal's really got the hots for G's Lady-in-waiting,Betthany (I'm thinking Nia Long, Kimberly Elise, Christine Milian). The King, who's currently waging a war, hits it right off with Jamal--but Lancelot (Paul Walker?), who takes a instant disliking to Jamal, does everything to make Jamal look bad--and keep his relationship good with the King. And then of course you have the wizard, Merlin (Max Von Sydow). Anyway, Jamal is doing his best to woo Betthany, while "Doing my best to bring a little 21st--Hell--even *19th* century into your sorry, saggy-ass age." Meanwhile, the war is simmering, with a couple of Rosencranz & Stern-esque guys from the warring faction (maybe the guys who played Lenny & Squiggy?) passing themselves off in King Arthur's court, but really doing their best to spy (though they do far more bungling, therefore lending some comic relief). Anyway, a little over the halfway point, Lancelot has done his nefarious best to make Jamal look bad--those getting the King to kick Jamal out. Anyway, Jamal goes wondering around...and while comtemplating what to do next, sitting by a lake (after a funny bit in which he tries 2 make fire), who should appear but The Lady of the Lake (Wanda Sykes), who tells him to get off "his skinny 21st Century Ass" and go back, win the love of Betthany and show that "Lance-a-less" a thing or two. So, newly-invigorated, and psych-ed up, he starts on his way back...and meets up with some former apprentices to Merlin (how about Jon Lovitz, Thomas Lennon (Reno 911), and the guy who played Bentley on "The Jeffersons."). He tells them he needs their help. Lovitz: Yeah, but that would require actual ma-gick. We don't *do* magic--that's why we got kicked out by Merlin. Lennon: That, and you kept stretching out his robes. L: Be quiet. L: Well, you *did*. L: I *did* not. and so forth. Anyway, they get in trouble when they're confronted by a dragon--but alas, with their backs against the wall--they actually find out they *can* perform magic. So it's back to the castle they go. But before they do--they're going along and a Big Rainstorm starts in, so they have to take refuge in this hut, this hut that's a home to this Guy. The guy gives the foursome refuge, and supper. GUY: Are you thirsty? (has a pitcher full of some rather queer, ill-looking stuff) Jamal: Uh, no--I don't think so. GUY: Ah come on--you'll like it. It'll clean your bells and whistles. Jamal takes a gulp--makes a funny looking face--his eyes bulge out--but ultimately shows a smile. GUY: Works every time. (Note: the GUY is played by Billy Dee Williams). Anyway, while they're there, Jamal begins noticing certain things that the GUY does--certain mannerisms--things that he recognizes in himself. Later, it comes out that the GUY's name is GUY (pron. "Gee") Hiwalker. (one of Jamal's ancestors--perhaps reinforced by a painting Jamal sees when he returns 2 the 21st Cent.) So, the next morning they head off to the castle. Lancelot instantly starts bickering with Jamal--but their bickering is cut short--when the castle starts getting attacked. So, we get our first look at the opposing leader who's leading the attack--and get this--he's a midget! er, little person (Peter Dinklage?). Ha! Ha! So the attack begins, Jamal & "Lance" forced to fight side-by-side, with Lovitz, Lennon, Bentley and Sydow "working their magic." Oh--and on the opposing side--their best warrior is this tall, Amazon woman (played by that tall, Amazon-ic chick on "Battlestar Galactica." Anyway, Arthur's side (naturally) prevails. Jamal ends up w/Beth, Lance ends up w/the Amazon chic. Everyone lives happily ever after.
Anybody like this concept?

Wow... Um, that's an interesting idea.

You know, they never actually show Jamal physically leaving the medieval age... So why not just do a sequel there.

Lots of possibilities. Hey, you could even do a serious movie. Check it out: The Queen and Knolte both knew Pervical, so why did he betray them and get Leo on the throne? Obviously, Percival planned to marry Regina. That's why he never smiled in the whole movie, because he was getting stiffed. That's why he hated Jamal so much. That's why he let the queen's rebels get into the castle, causing total chaos, and that's why he tossed the King into the moat.

Now, If Percy wanted Regina, he would have killed the Messenger from Normandy, because he was the only one outside of the castle that knew she had slept with another man. But, percival, having an arrow shot through him, and falling to the stone pavement below in full armor is almost certainly dead.

Regina though, is not shown at all after Jamal is freed. Percival probably got some plans, told Leo the messenger was dead, and had Leo send Regina over to Normandy to marry the duke there. Only, Percival's trusted guards are doing the shippment, and they really just want to move her to safety while Percival kills the rebels and her father.

The Duke of Normandy may have had other people to escort the Messenger, since it was dangerous times they lived in. They would be around to see the messenger get killed, and to see the Queen take back her throne. He can claim that the queen killed Leo, and Regina. Then the Duke of Normandy can rightfully attack the woman who killed his "beloved" fiancee, and try to take the castle for himself.

But is Leo really dead? Sure, he fell 50 feet into a moat, and even if he's alive, he'd be horribly wounded, and in need of immediate medical attention. He might gasp about until Regina and her escorts come back to the castle. She could nurse him back to health. They could try to join the Duke... And there's about another half of a movie to finish after that.

I enjoyed it, it isn't the best movie in the history, but still a good movie to watch with your friends of family.

And it's kind of funny too.

I watched the movie today on Australian TV. I honestly loved the movie.

2 minor things id idnt like. The ending itself was good but it was alil rushed. After he woke up from being unconsious and met the girl who remined him of the girl in his dream, and then chasing her for hernumber. That part should have lasted longer, it went too quick i belive.

Also, it was all funny but the funniest parts were when it was a bit of "fish out of water" kind of thing where he didnt know he was in medievil england. I think that should have lasted longer. And he shouldnt have gotten so damn good at medieveil stuff that quickly, like becoming a knight, riding a horse and stuff. He should have had heaps of difficulties with that and that would have been much funnier, but dont getme wrong i loved it without my suggestions.

I loved this movie. It was stupid and witless, yeah, but it reminds me of the time I went to our state Renaissane Fair in a full-length pimp suit complete with a suit, three inch platform shoes, and loads of bling-bling (I'm usually serious about it though). I thought it was just plain stupid and funny. I was laughing my ass off at the toilet thing.

This movie was really funny, it's not the greatest comedy or Martin's best movie but it's very enjoyable. I'm just shocked at the rating of this movie as well as the movie with him & Raven Symone.

I find it funny - enough said.

It is so poorly made and constructed that I get a laugh every time. It must be deliberate.
