A list of the best movis not to be in the top: 250

i would say this film should be in the top: 250 but as itis an average and not my personal choice (terrible) its not in it
i would also include collateral, one of my favourite films of last year
perhaps also gangs of new york
what about you?

make me a producer so I can get my name on imdb

reply

oh and:

Closer

This movie is a masterpiece!

reply

THE best films ever. And yes, when it comes to this subject (which is entirely subjective and pure opinion), I do agree with my choices on much higher level than anyone else's.

Mulholland Dr.
North by Northwest
Scarface
Vertigo
Easy Rider
The Exorcist
Star Wars
Rear Window
Lonesome Dove

reply

The list is very harsh to many great foreign films...

But hey, I guess that's to be expected.
But when I see crap like Batman Begins in the list...
Okay, don't get me wrong. BB is great popcorn entertainment. But one of the 250 greatest works of cinema of all time?!
..
I don't think so.

I also think Adaptation should be on it, at least based on some of the other films on the list.

People need to realise that just being in the top 250 is a huge deal. There have been far more than 250 great films made. With this in mind, I usually wouldn't mind if Adaptation was on the list, because I know it's a great film, nbut considerring some of the other films on the list..

Meh, the top 250 means very little. Make up your own mind about your favourite films. Your list will always mean more to you, and will be free of trashy summer movies.

reply

Catch Me if You Can
Boogie Nights
Casino
What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
The Royal Tenenbaums
The Aviator
Adaptation (definitely)

I never seen adaptation so I very well can't place it anywhere yet. I hope to see it soon because I see a lot of good comments on it.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?! You have got to be kidding me. That movie disturbed me a bit with it's references to Michael Jackson.

If anything, put Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in the 250!

reply

Tootsie, generally considered one of the funniest movies ever made and, in my opinion, Dustin Hoffman's best performance.

Ghost World should be on the top 250 and it should be ranked at #1, #2, #3, #4, #5.... all the way to #250

but that's just my (reasonable) opinion

i'm suprised no one has mentioned Say Anything (1989?) directed by Cameron Crowe.
The top 250, and imdb does a great job of putting fantastic movies with sort of cult followings together: i'm surprised it's missed this gem, and al the other one's mentioned.

6. Lost in Translation

I can't believe that none of those are ranked. They'd all have a really good shot at my top 100 list.

I sadly have not seen Midnight Cowboy yet. Most of the others mentioned I don't really feel are all that great.

as far as the movie, i haven't seen it in a while, but south park overall, doesn't get the credit it deserves. Much of south park is VERY good satire, and they really stay on top of things. Like i said, i can't speak for the movie, but south park deserves some recognition.

reply

adaptation needs to be in a high rank in the list, but not the first.

i think top 250 movies need to be more than just any stupid movie you just like, it needs to be different, deep and something you can learn for the real life.
i think stupid satires like south part or stupid love stories dont belong there.
too bad most of the movies (at least what get to see) are hollywood movies.
