Hector vs. Achilles (Vote)

Who were you rooting for during their duel.
I really wanted HECTOR to win.

"We will meet again, my brother."

Having read much of the Iliad, I knew Hector would lose, but I always liked him better. Achilles fought for glory. Hector was an oldest son, a man with family that he loved and fought to defend along with his father's kingdom and subjects against the invading Greeks, who were also portrayed in the Iliad as brutes.
The saddest thing (and it is not in the movie) is that after Hector's death, Troy is conquered, its women apportioned among the victorious Greeks. The child Astyanax that Hector is shown cuddling, by then a young child of 5 or so is thrown from the battlements. The scene is heartbreakingly portrayed in Eurpides' play "The Trojan Women" as well as the 1971 film of the same name directed by Michael Cacoyannis.

I could be a morning person if morning happened at noon.

Hector.

I still would've liked if the outcome were the other way around. Hector was a better warrior and a better man than Aquiles by far, he fought for his country and for his countrymen, unlike the other guy, selfish, arrogant and self centric.

Oh come on. Were there really people rooting for Achilles? I'm pretty sure most people were rooting for Hector in spite of knowing how it would end.

Hector could have stopped the war but didnt so i was glad he died

I found it interesting that Achilles would show up alone, kill Hector, leave with his body and the entire village did nothing to stop it. His father didn't order his warriors to capture Achilles when he was safe behind walls but instead was willing to take a risk and go to their camp and talk Achilles into surrendering the body of Hector.

Hector, but rooting irrelevant - Hector was human & mortal while Achilles was a demigod with almost his entire body juiced up to be invulnerable(save his heels, of course). Maybe it didn't show that much in the movie, but Achilles was basically a character with active trainers & cheat codes in effect. When you go one-on-one against an opponent who's under the buff of invulnerability or infinite health you know you're gonna lose.

Hector was my favorite character in this movie. Glad to see I'm not alone. Even Achilles was a decent enough guy, even though he killed him.

The one I wanted to drop off a cliff was Paris. Sure, Helen was stuck in a wretched situation, but... really? Was it worth so many lives?

I've always had a crush on Achilles, even before the movie came out - a guy with two immortal horses on his side can't be all bad. (I don't think his image on those pottery pieces does him justice)
