True or False: Batman Begins (2005) is the best live-action Batman movie so far.

If you say False and disagree, what do you think is the best live-action Batman film and why?

Batman Begins or Burton's Batman Returns, I like both equally, altough they're different.

false.

True. This is the Batman origin story to beat all Batman origin stories as far as live-action film goes. This movie is why you make origin story films to begin with. The movie explains in full detail exactly how, why and who Batman is. TDK is good for the same reason Burton's Batman is good... the Joker.

False. Batman '89 and The Dark Knight are far better.

False.

Batman Returns, I think grabbed the world of Batman far better with its dark, gothic atmosphere tinged with elements of horror. I think Batman Returns works better as a "realistic" comic book movie, as opposed to trying to make Batman seem real.

Batman Begins is a very fine movie and great Batman film, but I prefer Returns and even Batman '89 for their atmosphere and for managing to create a world that felt real, and yet seemed like it was a comic book world. The realism of psychology, the emotional level, the "human" level of Batman was all there - it was dark and brooding - but it had that extra special flavour that made it feel like a superhero film.

So weird, but I actually kind of agree with you to an extent.

Over the years I've found my fondness of Batman Begins to wane.

My appreciation of Burton's original 1989 film has only heightened, though.

I'm torn now between whether my favorite is The Dark Knight or Batman '89. I'm still quite fond of Batman Returns as well, even though Batman was more of a side-character to The Penguin.

Burton's films are wonderful. They strike a perfect balance between the fantastic and the realistic to deliver characters that mean something and make us feel something, but without straying too far from the world of Justice Leagues and the supernatural that DC comics inhabits. The look and feel of the films are great, and Keaton's performance does so much with so little.

I do like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight a lot, but there's something special about Burton's very original takes on Batman.

For me It’s tough to pick between begins and TDK as I think they complement each other very well but for me TDK is prob the better film but would not begrudge anyone picking begins. I think TDK is just that bit sharper in terms of story telling and production although the high budget increase helps and yeah the joker prob does tip it. Still get the same boyish excitement that did in cinema when he flips that joker card over at the end of begins though!!!

False. Since Burton, Live action Batman movies try to hard to be realistic and dark. Batman: The Movie (1966) is the best live action in my opinion. It embodies the silliness of Batman at the time while having a sense of humor about itself. If you read early Batman comics, they're fairly goofy and the gadgets come out nowhere. This film follows that trend with such gems as the anti shark spray in the batcopter. Who puts anything to ward off a shark in a helicopter?

But that's its charm. It's silly, stupid, funny, colorful, and a classic with a fun TV show to boot.

False, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises are better.
