Anyone agree?
shareI LOVED that character and performance, so I am with you on this.

Ribisi was great in this film, really acted his ass off, loved the performance
shareI said the same thing over at the Movie Awards board. I loved Giovanni in this role. He had really great charisma and chemistry with the other actors. Especially loved his scenes with Jenkins.

I pretty much have to agree woozefa. I was so disappointed I almost walked out. I did like Aaron Eckhart as the shady developer, a good performance. Richard Jenkins never disappoints me, but my fav was Michael Rispoli.
The movie had no cohesion and the plot lines were all over the place, never actually coming together well at all. I could see why this book was never published until Johnny Depp came along. HIs charactor should have been in his early twenties based on the book. It is autobigraphical of Hunter S Thompson when he was a very young journalist, barely out of his teens. Amber Heard looked about 15 without makeup and JOhnny looked late 30's to 40 in it, very odd.
i'm all for it. he was without a doubt the best thing about the movie!
shareI also agree with that since his character's raspy voice and high look on his eyes made the film one of the good things about it.
shareI found every second he was on screen to be enjoyable and feel he disappeared into the role. He played it over the top and took chances, which I thought worked in a HST adaptation.

He was very good, but when Oscar time comes around all the Academy will remember was that "Rum Diary" was a (relatively expensive) commercial flop, and it won't get nominated for anything. Which is unfair, of course, but that's how these things tend to go.
shareHe was the only thing about this movie that I really liked, so sure!
It's really frustrating to think that he was the only thing I really liked, though. I'm going to go read the novel again and cry. =p
One should always be on the lookout for fiendish thingies when enjoying winter sports.
This man needs more attention and work, he really's great in his body language and expressions. Sure, he scored a role in Avatar, but a minor two-dimensional one. I praised him in The Gift and I praise him here.
Yippee-ki-yay, pastel-colored resistance!
