Question: Could Ellen be facing another "Coming Out" in the future?

I know some of you will be tempted to take offense at this or say that I'm trolling, but I can assure you this is an honest query and I am being totally sincere. So, please hear me out (so-to-speak):

She's already come out once as a lesbian, but could it be possible that in the future, should be coming out again as transgender? I ask this, as a serious question, not as a throwaway comment.

The reason I asked, as if you'll notice, beginning around the year 2007 or so, Ellen has started looking progressively more mannish. She has never been particularly feminine, but her style was not what I would call mannish, instead it was tomboyish – that is, still decidedly female – that is, up until some years ago…

Just look at before and after pictures of her from her old sitcom, and compare that to her now. Or, don't even go that far back, just look at pictures of the early days of her talk show. Her style was still female then, even though it was tomboyish. But now, she has gone full-fledged man in her style. I mean, she's always been a bit androgynous, but never quite to such a degree. And her haircut is one of the most drastic changes. In the early 2000s, and in the early days of her talk show, if you'll remember, she had a cute Diane Sawyer type of haircut. But now? It's about as feminine as George Clooney!

Just compare these two videos to see what I mean:

If these don't prove that something's going on, I don't know what will!

I love Ellen, but I can't help but feel like she's changing into someone else. Now, you could argue that everyone changes over the years, but this is quite different. It isn't the regular kind of changing, like just getting older. This is a complete overhaul of style and image. Anyone else sense this?

So, could it be that slowly but surely, we are seeing her transformation from female to male? Could it be that it's only a matter of time, like it was when she came out as a lesbian, that she comes out as transgender too? Some might say that if she was transgender, she would've already come out with it, but not necessarily. Look how long it took her to come out as a lesbian! And it's only recently that transgender people have been more visible in the media front. So, this could be the open door that Ellen has been waiting for. I mean, if you look at Bruce Jenner, and the way he transferred into Caitlin, I don't see how it could surprise us for Ellen to eventually do the same thing! Though, if she does that, the world will lose the biggest lesbian icon and role model that it's ever had – and it could be this fact alone that is holding her back. I kind of feel like if it wasn't for the fact that her fan base embraces her lesbianism as the biggest part of her legacy, then she may have taken the sex change plunge a long time ago.

If and when she does finally make the change, people will be throwing comments at her left and right, about what took her so long. And she'll probably just say that she didn't realize that's who she was, and it just took a while for it to dawn on her that she wasn't merely a tomboy. Of course, I hope this isn't the case, but it doesn't change the fact that Ellen herself has had a complete style makeover, and I miss the cute tomboy she used to be. Sorry if this might seem offensive to some of you, but it's true.

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

Jane Lynch has a similar style but I don't think that makes her transgender. I've seen on the show where they're both wearing basically the same thing: blazer, buttoned shirt, and slacks. Except Jane wears heels while Ellen wears sneakers. Ironically, Ellen has a similar haircut to Anne Heche when they were together. It's just Ellen becoming more and more comfortable with who she is and we've seen her grow in the past 15 years.

George Carlin: It's all bullsh-t and it's bad for ya.

You do make some valid points, but I believe she is just becoming more comfortable in her skin and her style is reflecting that.

Maybe she's just getting older. As people get older, they lose baby fat and some "cuteness," and their skin gets a little hard and dry. And especially if they eat healthy (don't overeat), they lose their "womanly curves."

Well Chastity/Chaz Bono did do that, so you never know. At first she was a feminine girl, then she became a very butch lesbian and now she's a he named, Chaz.

Well I always thought Ellen was a very attractive woman. But she's never dressed very feminine at all. She's always been one of those "butch" girls, gay or not, some women are not girly girls.

My sister has been happily married for years(to a man) and she sports the shortest butch haircut you've ever seen. For her, it's just a matter of comfort and convenience.

I don't know about being 'trans". A lot of it is style. Hve you ever seen pictures of men in the French Court in the 1700's? They wore wigs, high heels and lace. I don't think you can judge a gender by fashion. LOL Just my take on it.
