So the real coach was white ey? Hmm.
I say good day to you.
shareThey put White faces on Egyptians, Jesus and many other historical figures and you're complaining about a football coach? Hmm..
And a good day to you, sir.
That's your problem, welcome to Philly.

My point is why use a black actor to portray a white person??? Why didn't they use a white actor to play Ali?
shareOne black actor playing a white actor is barely a fraction of how many white actors portraying: Black, Asian, Middle Eastern figures in movies for decades and they continue to do it today. They use to put ridiculous make-up on white actors so they could portray Asian characters. They change the race of a football coach and now it's a problem?

I can't think of one white actor that plays another race. Not saying you're wrong. I'm sure you'll comeback with examples. I'm saying I find it weird that they would use the rock to portray a white guy. There's a hundred suitable white actors for the role. I think my Ali example is a good one. If they used a white actor don't you think that would be strange?
shareDoes the race of the character change the story of the movie in any way, shape or form?
shareNo.
shareRobert Downey Jr Plays A BlackGuy In TropicThunder
shareThat was a comedy. It's not supposed to be taken seriously.
As for white actors playing non-whites, Mickey Rooney played a bad stereotype of an Asian. I don't recall the name of the film. Ams two Wyandanch brothers played "White Chicks". That's just as racist.
Actually he plays a white actor who plays a black face character and the point was to show how ridiculous it is. And the point the op is making is why is there outcry for a white actor to play a non white character but perfectly fine for a non white actor to play a white character, who by the way is not a character but a real person in this instance. It's like if Billy Joel play ray Charles but when people complain it won't be refered to as the derogatory term of "black tears" I'm not saying that when a white actor plays a non white character is right I'm saying to change the race of a living real person is wrong
shareDoes the race of the character change the story of the movie in any way, shape or form?
yeah it does , in this case.
it must have been harder for them to follow i white guy to success
The Rock plays a white guy in all his movies.
shareYou sound like a white Al Sharpton lol. Shut up.
shareIm sure the real guy was happy that Dwayne Johnson played him.
shareThe OP does have a point people are constantly complaining about whites playing fictional character that are other races but if you complain about dwayne then your labelled a racist or a troll.
I've just read an article of people complaining zoe saldana isn't black enough to play nina simone even though they're both black but it's ok for dwayne to play a white guy.
OMG, would you happier if Jackie Chan played the part?
