George Clooney is Batman

If they continue directly from this storyline in a future film, George Clooney would be Batman again! I’m actually more excited to see George Clooney than Michael Keaton back in the Flash!

If Michael Keaton was eccentric billionaire batman, George Clooney was more of an establishment batman, he talked like a senator.

It was not that George Clooney was bad, he could still be, but he wasn't given a chance, it was the script and director did that.

Is he any different in this one?

reply

I need to rewatch the movie again, but he seems to essentially be the same Bruce Wayne he was previously especially with the paparazzi following him like he’s a big celebrity

reply

That is disappointing, George Clooney batman should be running for the mayor instead of beating up criminals at night.

reply

I will be surprised if this goes anywhere, seeing as they have a habit of forgetting about past plot threads.

reply

Yeah, I wondered if the scene was meant to be taken a serious with him now being the official Bruce Wayne/Batman of the main universe or it was meant to be a “here we go again” joke like how the genie from I Dream of Jeannie appears at the end of A Very Brady Sequel

reply

I also wondered if this movie was meant as a way of saying that Affleck is no longer considered Batman.

Probably not. I think it was just a throwaway joke to end the film. If Affleck does hang up the cowl, it does leave the possibility of George reprising the role in future movies. But, it's not like Affleck being back needs any big explanation. You could just assume something that The Flash did rewrote history again, or put it back as it was somehow.

reply

Well, points for bringing that movie back into the fold.

reply

Hopefully we’ll get in the sequel Chris O'Donnell as Nightwing, Uma Thurman back as Poison Ivy, Jim Carrey as The Riddler, and/or Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze

reply

If there even is a sequel...

reply

Is it true you're casting George Clooney as the new main DCU Batman?
James Gunn
@JamesGunn
Absolutely not.

Does this mean were still getting an actor who has already batman or were getting a new actor all together?
James Gunn
@JamesGunn
New actor.

reply

They are probably going to reuse as many Batmans as they have legal rights to. I don’t think that Warner Brothers directly own the film rights to Batman though. I believe two attorneys bought the rights in the 80s.

>> I’m actually more excited to see George Clooney than Michael Keaton back in the Flash <<

Why? Keaton's Batman films are iconic, cLooney's Batman film is notorious as the "Worst Batman Movie Ever Made"

Might as well be "excited" if they got Richard Gant back to reprise his role from Rocky V...

reply

Haha. I actually would like to see Richard Grant come back to the Rocky franchise and pit Adonis Creed against an opponent

reply

No one in the biz, least of all Clooney, wants Bat-George back

It was just a meta-gag way to end the film while acknowledging that neither Affleck nor Cavill would be returning to the DCEU

reply

I was expecting him to say “It’s me, George”.

reply

Pretty sure it was just a gag. No follow-on.
