Is $139 million world wide okish? Or is this a flop?
Need to know if this can turn a small profit.
shareI think it's a flop. The budget was $200 million, and advertising alone was another $65 million. I've read it has to make $265M-$400M just to break even.
shareIt's only been 4 days. And it's actually the number one box office movie. It's so weird that a movie can be the number one movie in a weekend and still be considered a flop. It still has another weekend before Indiana Jones comes out.
I personally didn't watch it until Monday because I was worried about opening weekend crowds. I had wanted to watch it when it came out, but my friend said wait till Monday. So we did. I bet a lot of people did that.
#1 doesn't mean anything if the other movies it's against perfomed poorly. Its like a small town having a McDonald's and a gas station that serves old hotdogs. Obviously, McDonald's is the best restaurant in that town, but that doesn't mean McDonald's is a good restaurant.
shareIf those numbers are correct, it needs to make a minimum of 465 million just to break even. Studios only get 30-50% of tickets sales, so even at the highest percentage, it needs to double it's budget and also make up marketing.
