Is $139 million world wide okish? Or is this a flop?

Need to know if this can turn a small profit.

I think it's a flop. The budget was $200 million, and advertising alone was another $65 million. I've read it has to make $265M-$400M just to break even.

It's only been 4 days. And it's actually the number one box office movie. It's so weird that a movie can be the number one movie in a weekend and still be considered a flop. It still has another weekend before Indiana Jones comes out.

I personally didn't watch it until Monday because I was worried about opening weekend crowds. I had wanted to watch it when it came out, but my friend said wait till Monday. So we did. I bet a lot of people did that.

#1 doesn't mean anything if the other movies it's against perfomed poorly. Its like a small town having a McDonald's and a gas station that serves old hotdogs. Obviously, McDonald's is the best restaurant in that town, but that doesn't mean McDonald's is a good restaurant.

If those numbers are correct, it needs to make a minimum of 465 million just to break even. Studios only get 30-50% of tickets sales, so even at the highest percentage, it needs to double it's budget and also make up marketing.

It's over. Sorry lad.

Batman fans will save it.

Black Adam had a similar budget, stronger domestic opening ($67,004,323 vs $55,043,679 of this one) and bigger international percentage, and was a financial failure.

It is still hard to say at this point, because we don't know how strong it's legs are, but so far it is not a good look.

There are even talks like it "might be the final nail in the DCEU's coffin"

Black Adam was a dreary mess though. The Flash at least looks like it could be fun. And has Keaton.

Monday and Tuesday numbers are out, very similar to Black Adam, so it looks like their performances are going to be similar:

Black Adam had that, but still not doing much better.

The only Marvel superheros with muscle to speak of, and I can only think of, are Captain America and Thor.

So it is a factor, but maybe not the most significant factor.

The Rock has very little sex appeal. He's A sexual in the majority of his films. Zero sexual edge, and I bet when he pulls his pants down he's a Ken doll down there

55 million domestic opening and 139 WW is really disappointing and puts it on major flop trajectory. I would say if it could bring in 450 million WW then it would turn a small profit. However this was supposed to be a big hit and get close to a billion or 750 million which it is no where near. So, anything less than say 600 million and it's a flop imo.

I might go see it this weekend.

Currently 250M WW.

Flash and Shazam 2 failing is DC's fault for deciding to announce they are rebooting when there are sequels and new DC movies coming out this year.
