At the top, look for Warner Bros.'s release of New Line's Shazam! to take the weekend's top spot. The latest DC Comics adaptation injects some fun into the filmed DC Universe, which has become known for its dark and brooding characters and reviews have been extremely positive to the point it currently holds a 93% rating on RottenTomatoes. The studio will launch the film in over 4,200 theaters this weekend, anticipating a debut anywhere from $45-50 million, which is a range that lines up quite well with what we're seeing.

FRIDAY AM UPDATE: Warner Bros.'s Shazam! is off to a strong start, bringing in $5.9 million from Thursday night previews last night. Once you add in the $3.3 million Shazam! grossed from its early preview event on March 23, the film has $9.2 million in the bank heading into today's official opening day.

I have a feeling this is one of those weekends where the projections just keep going up, up, up until Sunday.

This is going to land much closer to 100 million than the (projected) 50 million.

….aaaaannnnnd the adjustting up has already started and it's only Friday afternoon.

Just 2 hours ago they were forcasting a 47 million 3-day weekend. Now...it's already jumped to 49+ million. It will be fun tracking this. Last weekend was depressing as we watched Dumbo's projections notched down continually.

the level of Delusions in this statement is scary...

Its truly like you are living in a fantasy world and only seeing what you want to see...

The Tracking isnt even remotely going up...

Shazam is coming in EXACTLY where its been tracking and predicted for the last 2 weeks...

every major box office site had Shazam opening between 47 to 53 Million

so far Shazam has COME IN exactly there.

for you to even remotely claim tracking is going up...It has to actually Be GOING UP...

You predicted a Near 100 Million + opening Weekend....at this point, Literally the best you can hope for Is that Shazam comes in at 54 Million so you can at least desperately claim it came in the SLIGHTEST above projections

If Shazam comes in anywhere between 47 to 53 million then It came in exactly where Projections had it...

lol seriously, You are in such a Horrific situation here, that Your only possible options are to simply let go of all Pride and begin to SPITE TROLL and Claim "MINI Victories"

since Shazam is no where close to any of your 3 Predictions of 68 M+...75 M+ and Then Near 100 M...

The only thing you are left with Is Hoping It beats Dumbo by a couple million....lol dear god could you 2 weeks ago ever imagined...youd be sitting here this weekend hoping and praying Shazam at Least Barely Tops Dumbo's 45 Million

lol could you have ever imagined you would be sitting here hoping Shazam HAS A BUMP and creeps past 54 Million so you can shamefully claim it came in 1% ahead of the 47 to 53 Million Projections...

lol could you ever have imagined You'd be sitting here watching Shazam come in Lower than AM1?

you are more than within you rights to live in a delusion reality and Fantasize that Shazam's Projections are going up...

But just know, The entire rest of the world lives in reality...where Shazam is coming in Nearly Identical to where every major box office site predicted...

PS literally chuckled out loud when you said "Its going to be fun tracking this"...Because quite honestly The only possible thing I could imagine your weekend being while watching This is PURE HELL...

I have no clue what could be fun about watching a film you predicted to make Near 100 Million comes In just over 50 M....

I have no clue what could be fun about watching a film YOU GUARANTEED to top AM2s 75 Million Opening, come in LOWER than AM1s 57 Million...

I have No clue what could be fun about you watching a film that you Claimed was HOTTER than Aquaman, Come in Lower than Aquaman...

lol again the level of Delusions you are showing is just plain scary...

It truly is like You cant accept what is happening and You are just BREAKING...

all of your posts the last 12 or so hours, Literally looks like someone who has lost touched with reality...

word of mouth is a powerful thing. While I don't think it will be 100 million, I think it will be higher than 50 million. A lot of people in my social media are watching Pet Cemetary instead. The theater I was at was an IMAX show and there were only 30 people or so in the theater~

believe it or not as of right now WOM seems to be doing nothing for the film...

I actually expected Shazam to come in around 60 M....and the reason why was WOM...

tracking for Shazam the last month as been between 47 to 53 Million...thats what the data showed..

so I figured, The Great reviews and WOM would at least add something to that...

But Its not, Instead Shazam is coming Nearly Identical to The tracking BEFORE reviews hit or WOM got out...

Maybe WOM may kick in for Shazam next weekend and through its run.....but at least for its OW....WOM seems to be having no impact.

and again I absolutely thought WOM would impact Shazam and cause it to come in around 60 M...

but apparently The Great reviews, really hasnt resulted in any New audiences seeing the film...

Last Month, tracking data suggested it was heading for a 47 to 53 Million OW......If WOM and The Great reviews were in fact helping, Shazam should have came in ABOVE that tracking...Instead It came It EXACTLY where the tracking indicated a month ago, Meaning, NO NEW Audiences has been gained by the great reviews and good WOM

SATURDAY AM UPDATE: With an estimated $20.5 million on Friday night, WB's Shazam! is on its way to leading the weekend box office.
