Ava's freedom wiil be short-lived.

I too like many, was initially worried that Ava leaving Caleb locked in the facility at the end of the film would lead to Caleb's death. But, Nathan's estate was well-stocked with food and beverage, and when Caleb didn't show up at work after a week there and the company wasn't able to get in touch with Nathan, company execs would have been out to investigate immediately, and Caleb would have been rescued. When they discovered what had happened and that Ava had escaped, as there was plenty of video footage of Ava available, a manhunt would have been underway to find her and she probably would eventually have gotten arrested. Sad.

I honestly don't think the film cares much what happens after Ava escapes. Her escape, itself, is the point of the story.

We're tricked into thinking the story is about Caleb administering the Turing Test on Nathan's new AI, but it was Ava's story all along, specifically a story about whether Ava could use her intelligence to escape, and thus pass Nathan's test

So yeah, she won't last long, but it doesn't matter; she passed the test.

And Caleb definitely won't die but it doesn't matter; Caleb only needed to be locked up long enough for Ava to escape

Also, within the context of the film, I don't think it's sad that Ava will be caught and dismantled. That she succeeded at all means that the world will be forced to think differently about AI. To the extent she needs to "win," she already did when she made it into the city.

All good points, and I think that Nathan's company will do their best to cover up all that happened. Nathan's research won't have been in vain as the corporation will definitely pick up where Nathan's research stopped. Too much at stake here not to.

Not likely. She was smart enough to change her appearance, and had no fingerprints or DNA to track.

She’s pretty fragile, and I’m sure she met her fate at the hands of that minority that’s responsible for the majority of crime in any US city ….
