Am I the only one that had no problem with Gyllenhaal?

like at all?

I thought he did pretty damn well myself, both he and Arterton were likable and well cast. I just came back from a matinee and thought the movie was MUCH better than the poor critical reviews it recieved.
To me the most ridiculous and inexplicable thing about the whole movie were the damn British accents (WHY !??).

I actually thought he was wonderful! I didn't have a single problem with him. I'm rather sick of hearing about how he did horrible with accent, his hair looked bad, etc. Honestly, he acted well and he had a good time. Kudos to Jake Gyllenhaal.

It's definitely an atypical role for him, but I thought he did a great job! He's believable as the guy with a heart of gold, too, because there's just something ludicrously likable about him. I don't know what it is...

I loved him, he was one of the main reasons I wanted to see the movie. I have a feeling he's more popular here in Europe the in the US. He did a great job, he's a great actor. Most of the complaint about him seem to be very silly, his race, him being a geek, not masculine. He's a great actor and he did a great job :)

Nooope. In fact, this movie made me like him. He's now my new celebrity crush.

(And yes, I don't take this movie seriously too.)

No...I saw the movie twice and didn't even think anything negative about his performance until I read people's reviews. I thought he did a great job and I couldn't picture anyone else doing better. :)

I think he did well, considering it as a transition from his other roles.
It's better that he's cast instead of the typical action hero. Just doesn't have anything unique if say orlando did it.

I enjoyed his performance a lot. I was skeptical when I heard he was cast, but only because I couldn't imagine him in costume. I've always thought he was a solid actor, though, and thought he saved Dastan from being a two-dimensional character.

Completely agree. Moreover, I prefer my "heroes" to have a humorous or ironical side .
