Frankly, I consider Princess Bride to be the gold standard of this genre of fantasy but yet comical movie based on medieval time. Granted, this movie is definitely not as funny, and not as quotable as Princess Bride, but time will tell.

I think this film is a close 2nd to the Princess Bride... I'm sure the writers were inspired by it and it's humour. While this film has some hits and misses in the comedy, the Princess Bride was just one hit after the other.
Still, two very good fantasy films! I hope there will be more like it and up to the same standard.
I disagree. Every scene with Peter Falk and Fred Savage is a Gargantuan miss. The scenes may work in a novel. They bring a film to a screeching, frustrating, boring halt.

When I can't figure out what to watch on Netflix this is one of my go-tos.
I'm not ashamed to say it's up on my favorite movies list with The Princess Bride.
I don't think this movie is as quotable as PB, which is one of the things that made PB a cult classic. Same with Holy Grail.
Not that Stardust isn't great, just that it doesn't go for quotability.
