Am I the only nerd?

That loved the "pop goes my heart song". I really think back in the day it would have been a hit. I loved it. Anyone with me?

reply

absolutely! Loved it along with the other 80s-type songs.

reply

Well.....it's catchy, fun and totally stuck in my head....it ticks all the boxes. Hehe.....I totally agree!

Studying accounting is difficult and tedious!

reply

I also liked th esong but it isn't like an 80s song, heavy metal, glam rock etc. More like a 60's bubblegum song.

reply

I thought it was extremely 80s. It reminded me of the Cars.

most definitely 80's. ...a little "Wham" like! LOL

"I thought it was extremely 80s. It reminded me of the Cars."

The Cars?!?!?!? "Pop!" were clearly a send up of "Wham!" I mean clearly. It couldn't have been any more clear. They were absolutly nothing like the Cars. Nothing at all.

"True wisdom comes from knowing that you know nothing. That's US, Dude!"

reply

Well, Wham! and the Cars weren't exactly worlds apart sonically. It's that 80s new wave pop sound. But you're right that it is much more like Wham! and is quite an obvious send up.

Umm, heavy metal, glam rock, etc. was late 80's. Early through mid-80's was all new wave, etc. like this song.

Actually, heavy metal started in the late 60's and glam rock started in the very early '80s with bands like Motley Crue, Posion and Cinderella. By the mid to late '80s with the emergence of Gun's and Roses all the glam bands started to abandon thier cosmetics for leather jackets and motorcycles. By the late '80s-early '90s, grunge started to take over.

A number of different sub-genres of music developed throughout the eighties not just heavy metal and glam rock.

reply

Okay I'll admit I liked it too.

reply

Oh, I loved the song, lol. Too cute and totally 80s.

reply

The Player: We're actors! We're the opposite of people!

reply

One if not both of the two original songs in the movie will be nominated for an Oscar, or at least should be.

reply

I saw the movie a week ago ... and still can't get that stupid song out of my head ... its so embarrassing when I unknowingly hum it at the water cooler and the other people stare at me like I'm a freak show ....

Pop goes my Heart !!! .....

reply

It took me weeks to get this song out of my head. I just caught the movie again and now I'm doing it again! "All I want to do is find my way back into love...." "ARGHHHHH"

great movie! hysterical lines!

reply

Absolutely loved it too! And "Way Back Into Love" as well.

La vita è grande, l'amore è reale, e la bellezza è dappertutto.

reply

Same here, I'm listening to it right now! Great movie

reply

TOTALLY! :) I would have definitely liked that song as a teenager back in the 80's.

reply

Great song. That "You are gold... and silver" part cracks me up everytime.

Hilarious for a girl growing up on Wham!

reply

Thank you to whoever linked to the Wham! video to see the two of them jump into the camera view like that. Awesome. There are so many elements of the "Pop! Goes My Heart" video that I know remind me of real 80s videos, but I can't quite place them. That was big one. I'm still laughing.

"Pop! Goes My Heart!" is just a perfect replica/parody of the British 80s pop sound, and the video's is just too damn funny. It's absolutely brilliant.
