Megan and the orange sherbet

It looks to me like Megan was determined not to like the sherbet and didn’t even try to taste it before she said that she didn’t like it. Yes, she put it in her mouth but she didn’t give herself enough time to know how it tasted.

I know that Don behaved horribly in this episode. Megan did not share his excitement about the trip or the sherbet and his reaction to that was completely inappropriate.

By the way, I wonder what the sherbet was made out of? It looked like mashed cooked carrots to me.

I don’t know what they used for filming purposes but that sherbet was actually a menu item at Howard Johnson’s restaurants. When they made that episode about ten years ago there was still one Howard Johnson’s restaurant left in the US but I think it has closed since. I assume with the lights and how long it takes to film scenes they might have used something else such as they use for ice cream commercials.

Don't they have fridges on the set?

People like Meghan don't *want* to like anything fattening.

She asked for chocolate ice cream. Chocolate ice cream and orange sherbet combined is yummy.

I can actually tell you what the orange sherbet at HoJo's tasted like: Orange flower water and citric acid! It was the most godawful stuff I've ever eaten in my life, and at that point I was between 3 and 4 years old (late 1960s) and a huge lover of sherbet, ice cream, etc.

"It's not for everybody," the waitress said in that scene - and was she ever right!

reply

I guess that WOULD taste like perfume! (As Megan said it did.)

reply

Ayup... That's the only thing she and I agreed on in the whole series! LoL

reply

Howard Johnson had the best chocolate chip ice cream ever made. Ever. The GOAT.

..and clam strips!
