For sure, HAIL! This is one of the most interesting movies about a psychological issue and relationships I've ever seen. It is much more interesting than the typical "Character has a problem and develops relationship with mentor/psychiatrist" film. I think it is one of the most beautiful, tender films I've ever seen.

It isn't a comedy. It has some funny moments, but it is much too complex to call it a comedy. They didn't know what to do with it, so that is how they categorized it. It is a lame choice that I think hurt the popularity of the film, but doesn't hurt the film.

What's....this....ruckus?

I loved this movie. It was a celebration of difference & acceptance; and I think a WHOLE bunch of people in this country today would perhaps stand to learn something from it & become better people for it.

I do however, find it difficult to describe it a comedy. Sure a few parts were funny, but Lars performance was so heart wrenching, he had me in tears throughout the movie.

Great movie. Great script, great direction, great photography & great acting by the entire cast. We don't get the whole package with most movies.....

I've been wanting to watch this for a long time and tonight I had the chance. I was totally caught off guard by how touching and sweet the story turned out to be. When the town rallied around Lars when Bianca died I was actually tearful. I recognized many symptoms of mild autism in Lars such as sensory issues with touch. My son has Asperger's and has a sweet, quirky personality that endears him to many. That's probably why I became so emotional watching this film. Hail!

Hail

I thought it was the sweetest movie I have seen in a long time.
I love when good actors take on a movie like this one.

Hail.

I agree that it is a very sweet movie with heart, without being sappy or sentimental. As I've read in other reviews, with the movie's premise, there are any number of ways it could have gone wrong. It never does, however, and from the moment Emily Mortimer's character Karin tackles Lars to make him come to dinner, I was in love with the film (and in love with Mortimer).

The performances by the leads and the supporting actors were all terrific. It almost goes without saying that Ryan Gosling's performance was outstanding and he never hits a sour note. I also like how sweet Kelli Garner's portrayal of Margo is, but I have to admit I love her in all of her work I've seen.

Everyone seemed to understand what this film was about, and they crafted it perfectly, including the musical score and editing. They all helped to keep the tone right on pitch. The ending was perfect too.

Sincerity can be hard to pull off in films, especially in a cynical world of Hollywood filled with ironic humor and gross out humor. This one does it just right, with a wonderful script and outstanding direction. I'm proud for everyone associated with the film, and they all deserve to be proud of their work on it. I say to them, "Thanks for this little gem."

Okay I'm out.

I cannot believe I waited this long to watch it. How more people haevn't seen it/it hasn't made more money, is a crime!

Great performacnces and hilarious moments (especially the montage of Bianca reading an audiobook to the kids, volunteering at the hospital, becoming a model, etc!)
