(Spoiler) is Walter dead or alive in real life??
Did Christine successfully find her son in the end in real life??
shareDid Christine successfully find her son in the end in real life??
shareNo, he was sexually abused and murdered at the Chicken Ranch. See Wineville Chicken Coop Murders on Wiki for a true version of what happened.
shareBut didn't he successfully escape at one point?? Or was he caught in the end??
shareNobody escaped.
"But... what about the relevant conundrum?"
There is a difference between the film and real-life. There were no group of boys held in the chick-coops that escaped as depicted in the film. There were only 3 boys whom were ever held in the chicken-coops. Walter and the 2 Winslow brothers. They were all held in the coops at separate times and were all murdered. Read Wiki article Wineville Chicken Coop Murders.
shareAgreed. Walter Collins was murdered by Northcott.
shareIn the final scene, she tells the detective that she now has something she didn't have before...hope and during the remainder of that ending, it's claimed that she never stopped searching for him. If that's factual, it appears as an ultimately very neurotic and unhealthy mindset for her to adopt for the remainder of her life.
shareIf you're a parent with a missing child and you find even a slight reason to hope they're still out there, every fiber of your being clings to that hope unless you absolutely learn otherwise.
