Bill Murray's character....


What exactly was the point of his character? It didn't make sense to me. I seen all the wes anderson movies he's in, I watched this again today...did I miss something?

I'd say to subvert your expectations. And to give Bill a cameo.

I think it's a big joke. Murray is in all his films, but there wasn't really a role for him here so, to answer all the people who might ask, "Why isn't he in it?" they filmed the answer: he missed the train!

Actually, I think that was a big mistake. They should have had him in it. It would have been a better film.

I was more interested in his character than the rest of the cast because he seemed like he'd be funnier and more charismatic for 2 hours.

Well, this was one of Anderson's least well-received movies. Maybe his absence had something to do with that.
