Manga ending was superior
At the end of the manga, Raito is coldly murdered by Ryuk while begging for his life in front of his colleagues and the SPK. In the anime, he merely wanders off and may have been eventually killed by Ryuk from a distance. Since the rest of the anime follows the manga fairly closely it doesn't make sense to have changed the ending in the anime to a much inferior ending.
