Favorite scene... that didn't involve any fighting, spectacular visuals, or special effects?

What's your favorite quiet, emotional, character scene?

Mine may be Sam and Gilly sitting ln the woods, singing a song about "The Father" who loves the little children, and wondering what the hell it has to do with real life. Or maybe Arya watching the actors play out the story of Good King Joffrey.

What others?

Here's just a few...Jon and Tyrions first meeting (as the black sheep of their families), Robb beating his sword against the tree when hearing of his fathers death, Jon with Bran and Ayra first season, Jaime and Brienne bathing and Jaime's monologue, Tyrion with nearly everyone, Ayra and Tywin.....................there's tons more if I think about it

It wasn't exactly 'quiet' but I quite enjoyed the Dwarf Jousting at Joffrey's wedding feast.

Tyrion's speech during trial

Big ol YEP to this one. Best scene in the whole series, in my opinion.

The Tyrion & Oberyn prison cell scene in Season 4. Excellent acting by both Peter & Pedro

This is the one I was going to mention. When Oberyn tells Tyrion he would be his champion, the look of relief in Tyrion's face... he should have won an Emmy just for that.

Almost any one on one conversation Tywin has with anyone. Especially any situation when the other person is in the right, but Tywin still manages to get the better of the conversation.

Tywin with Tyrion at the start of season 3. Tyrion was right. He was the reason the city hadn't already fallen to Stannis by the time Tywin got there, but not only did he get no credit, but he lost his job and his home, and his father didn't even visit him when he was recovering from his wound.

Tywin in the throne room with Joffery. Just like Tyrion, Joffery was right, but Tywin won the conversation. He did move the small council meetings to a place where he knew Joffery wouldn't go, and he was keeping information from his king.

Lady Tyrell. Tywin had no right to force the heir to High Garden to marry Cersei, but he made it clear that the other option was to assign him to the kings guard. Even the Queen of Thorns is impressed by him.

So true. Charles Dance elevates every scene.

Tywin rules! :)

When the wight walker dragon burned down the wall.

That didn't involve any spectacular visuals or special effects?

reply

Looked real to me.

Arya killing Frey. I was smiling the whole time.

reply

Wonderful scene, but murder is a form of fighting.

reply

Oh, sorry, um... I guess I'll go with Sam stealing the family sword and deciding to not to leave Gilly with his family.
