Not woke enough to get money for budget or promotion

This movie will be a flop, not because it is bad or too experimental, but Hollywood will find this movie to be toxic or not woke enough. A lot of bad press and no money will go into the promotion of this movie. This is the new normal a "hypernormalisation", even for director legends like Coppola. Its over. GG

Get a life. The guy hasn't had a high profile or successful film in thirty years. That's why Hollywood won't throw money promoting his latest project. You don't need to invent new reasons why the mainstream doesn't give a shit about a new Francis Coppola movie. We've been aware of this fact for decades.

The demographic of who will likely go out to watch a new Coppola movie just isn't worth investing in the marketing.

i agree he did not have a big hit in a while. but usually coppolla has no problems getting funding.

reply

Really. What of his has been significantly funded in the past thirty years? We're not talking about movies he was hired to do, like Rainmaker, Dracula or even The GF part III which he didn't want to make.

I reported you for admins. For nonsense spamming post. So tired of both reps and dems fanatics creating idiotic post just to insert word "woke' for no reason. Go to twitter. Stop spamming this site. We talk about movies here. We don't need your whining about woke. Go to political section or trump page.

imagine having zero arguments and reporting someone to the admins, just because you randomly feel like it. also imagine being stuck in a binary thought prison of dems and republicans. you are completely lost. and i will also report you , for abusing the report system, and for reporting someone for no good reason.

I read that Francis Ford Coppola paid the $100M outa his own picked and is now without a distribution deal. Selling to streaming is the next step at probably $10Million or less, if Netflix wants it. It might sell at Cannes to some Euro or China company for nothing.

Good point, sounds reasonable !

Looks like Netflix is on the fence:

In March, the film screened for potential buyers – including Universal, Netflix and Sony – in an industry event hosted at Universal CityWalk Imax. According to the Hollywood Reporter, responses were mixed, ranging from a glowing commendation to one studio head putting it bluntly: “It’s so not good, and it was so sad watching it.”

No distributor is currently attached to the film.
