Why so long?

Two Hours and Twenty Eight minutes? Very long for a horror film.

The director took to heart all the criticisms the first one got and tried deliver what people wanted. Some people complained the first film was too short and didn't have enough story.

He has said the third film won't be this long. So it seems like this was done for a change, something different and he recognizes that he can't keep making very long slasher films.

The pacing was good for the runtime. So no issues here.

OK. Thanks.

He should stop taking things to heart. You can't please everyone and if you start diluting your vision to try to do that, you end up with something that pleases no one.

The total lack of plot for all that time made it excruciating to sit through.

Unusually long. I found it did drag in a couple of places (for example, Sienna's dream/vision of the clown shack or whatever the hell it was). I think about two hours would have been right for what he wanted to tell. Given it was the first appearance of Sienna (who's going to be a fixture of the franchise) I can totally see why he wanted to spend a bit of time on her.
