Enjoyed it more than I should

Not bad, nothing new, but liked it. The location made an impact.

Good to hear, I love this series.

Watching this and The Night House for Halloween tomorrow. If I still have some watching left in me, I think I'll re-watch The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

reply

The Night House is on my list also for tonight.
Heard only good things about it.

reply

I liked the Night House

reply

Did you end up watching these? I really quite liked The Night House but I found this a little meh.

reply

Same man, I didn't rate either movie over a 6, but found them enjoyable as a one time watch.

This chapter of PA was different from the rest with the wide open spaces and seemed more like a spin off than a sequel or a prequel, cause there was no connection or reference to Toby or any of the other PA characters. There's another PA movie coming out next year that sounds like a proper sequel to the series based on its synopsis.

The Night House started out great, but I didn't like the ending. I made a couple of posts in that movie's board. I found the whole premise absurd and its only saving grace was RH's acting and the first half of the movie.

reply

Yeah. This PA seemed very much like The Cloverfield Paradox in that it was a film that seemed shoehorned into a franchise. I'll keep an eye out for the one next year. Hopefully that one will be a proper one.

But yeah. With The Night House, SPOILERS I was mainly relieved they didn't cop out and not have a supernatural explanation for all the weird stuff and it wasn't all in her head or someone was messing with her or whatever.

reply

I like all of these except for the last night which made me hesitant on this one but thinking about watching it tomorrow.

reply

Does it have a connection to the previous movies? It's weird that almost no one talks about this movie, PA is supposed to be popular franchise.

reply

None whatsoever; if it weren't titled Paranormal Activity you'd never know it's supposed to be a PA movie. It even has a few normal (non "found footage") shots.

reply

Such a shame, they should have left PA franchise alone along time.

reply

Ah, so just a branding tie-in.

reply

Yep, it's basically Halloween 3

reply

No connection at all nor any references to Toby or any of the characters from the PA series. It's not a bad movie in itself, although there is nothing great about it either. It's about a 5.5-6/10 for a horror movie and has some good parts. Doesn't get boring or slow anywhere.

No idea why they decided to include this movie under the PA umbrella (even though, technically, there is "paranormal activity" in this movie).

reply

Thanks, I'm still going to watch Next of Kin soon. I didn't even know there is going to be new PA movie next year if it's official. I feel it is suddenly ruining the franchise knowing the first film is fantastic. If the first PA film never got any sequels or ended after part 3 as the trilogy, it would certainly get more viewings by now.

reply

I was watching "movies that made us" on Netflix and in one episode they showed the highest horror movies with revenue and PA was ranked number 1. Ever.
I think is save to say the whole saga was seen a lot.

reply

This is the cost to revenue figure, which PA1 got by being so cheap to make. Halloween held the record before.

reply

Nothing. But had to search for "Sarah" after watching it. For a moment I had the impression it was the blond from part 3? Or was it 4?

reply

It was a decent C+ movie
