Why?

Why do people like these cookie cutter, poorly written CGI fests? I just don't understand it. They're so badly made

reply

Sony figured out if they just bring back every Spider-man actor and villain they can make a profit even if it's not well written and full of plot holes. And after the LGBT pandering in Venom 2 and Eternals, this movie is a much needed return to normalcy.

i'm happy to make the case that this is one of the better comic book movies of recent years, and the more i think about it the more i like it.

if you don't dig it, that's a-ok. but i think this film pulls off what it does quite adeptly, and even though it's bursting with characters, it actually plays its nostalgia card incredibly well. it's funny and pacey and light on its feet, not over-burdened with too many moving parts, and really sweet and emotional in an incredibly satisfying way.

it's great!

This is an excellent summary of the movie. It didn't pretend to be something it's not. It didn't try to force anything onto people, it didn't try to subvert expectations and what fan service they put in flowed so well it didn't come off fake or forced. It was fun all the way through.

reply

It has its moments of fun, but it’s not the best comic book ever or anything. Just a popcorn movie. Reminds me of the movies Dad would watch on Sci-Fi Channel. Something to pass the time and enjoy along with a TV dinner.

I also wonder if I’ll ever see an actual fire in a movie again. I didn’t have my glasses on when I saw this movie, but all the explosions looked CGI, and that’s just lame. I want real fire in my movies.

reply

Because there very entertaining and well made.

reply

Well there's definitely plenty of awful CGI fest comic book films, yes, but there's also plenty of these types of films that are genuinely great. This is one of the great ones.

I think the real "why" is why you bother posting something so inane. We get it, you don't like it. Seems most people do like it, and you can find the reasons why they like it with ease. So if you aren't trolling, why are you wasting time asking such a question?

reply

I see people say they like it because it was fun and cool. I'm asking the question to see if there are reasons beyond that, which I am finding there are not.

"People drink the sand, because they don't know the difference."

There is literally nothing else out there, especially right now. Kids films, niche drama, documentary crap....

They don't know what real life peril films feel like after all the cgi films. They can't miss what they don't know.

Plus, it's just a forgettable, fast food popcorn flick, serving its purpose: entertainment.

I just have a hard time accepting how stupid people have gotten I guess. I am trying to understand the stupidity, but I'm starting to think there is no comprehending it. I'll always be wanting a better explanation.

reply

It's astounding isn't it? With all this instant free information online, people eat up the garbage instead and get stupider.

reply

So ppl like you don't have to watch it.

cringe

reply

Did you see it? If only there was a trailer...
