Is it true that (Possible season 14 Spoiler)...

Hey Everyone,

Newbie here. I just finished watching all 13 seasons of Heartland on Netflix and Prime over the past couple of months and overall, I enjoyed it. That's not saying there aren't ways is could be better (there definitely are), but it had me interested enough in a 14th season. Ultimately it was the relationship between Amy and Ty that pulled me in.

However, I happened to read a rumor online (apparently it was originally posted by CBC) and saw a recent YouTube video that suggest Ty will be killed off and the new season will be about Amy learning to cope with that. Can anyone confirm if this is true, a PR stunt, or just a fan rumor?

Personally, the relationship between Amy and Ty is one of my primary reasons for watching the show and feel that this course of action will sour the series for many viewers (including myself). I get it if Graham Wardle wants to move on to other work, but if that were the case, the should have stopped the show after season 13 and maybe could have done a heartland movie every couple of years keeping the main cast around.

If this is being done to "re-energize the series" I'm willing to bet this will backfire. I liked seasons 10 & 11 the least due to Ty's absence, which, resulted in minimal interaction between Amy and Ty (it kind of felt like watching the X-Files after David Duchovny left). The Georgie and Mitch/Lou drama also isn't enough of a pull for me to continue watching. From what I've read on other boards, it seems younger viewers (those in Georgie's age range) prefer her story lines because they can relate to her better, which, is totally understandable. However, I'm definitely more an original cast (Amy, Ty, Lou, Jack, Tim, Mallory, Peter, Caleb) fan. I'm also not interested in watching if the writers try to pair Amy off with someone else and basically perform a reboot.

This series is going to be 14 years old. By that time, most television series that have been on that long have left their best years behind them (IMHO this one included). I know that there a are a lot of viewers that want to see season 20 and beyond, but I doubt if asked they would want to see a show that is a pale imitation of its former self. I remember reading an article where even Amber knew the series was reaching its end and would be sad to see it go but was excited for life after heartland (I don't remember the source otherwise I'd cite it). If the main cast is getting ready to move on it would be best to just announce season 14 as the last season, spend the time developing strong story lines (that don't include major character death - the lone exception being if at the end of the series they time jump to show Amy and Ty running heartland in the future) and end it on a bright note (again just my preference).

Stay safe and well!

I’ve long been an advocate of writing Ty out of the series. You don’t even have to kill him off. Send him back to Mongolia and tell Amy the love of his life is bears, not her.

There would be a couple of seasons worth of story lines with Amy adjusting to being a single mother and Amy meeting a new love interest.

Better than Lou and Mitch for the umpteenth time.

Ty done dropped dead. What a crappy way to write him out...
