Amazing Cinematography/Lighting/a la Film Noire, but the plot - c'mon (spoiler alert)

It's ridiculous that a picture of Tom or Dickie had never come up before the last scene.

That inspector was a dolt anyway - but I think that's the point. I believe the inspector was so into himself that he forgot to actually do detective work. If he couldn't tell Captain Beardo was Ripley/Greenleaf at the end...I mean...c'mon. I thought the inspector was just messing with him.

reply

Ya, I thought the Inspector was just playing along and setting a trap for Ripley - but nope. Ridiculous.

Yeah i might be wrong but did he not say that his wife was from where they were going skiing early on, and then at the end he said she was from Atrani? i thought he was testing him or something

Actually a shame this was in back and white as the shots are so beautiful we don't get to see them at their fullest

They had come up before... Marge had her photos published in Oggi, but I guess Ravini and his assistant don't read that.

Abysmal Detective work - to not even ask for a photo.
