What would have made this much better….

If they had expanded on the idea of having his alter ego (a version of himself from one of his movies…showing up, like in his car’s passenger seat, giving him advice).

Instead of just having that ONE recurring version of himself, in the form of one of his early action films…..they should INSTEAD have had various alter ego versions of himself (from several different movies) show up.

For example….maybe one time, the apparition is the Valley Girl version of him. The next time…it’s the Con Air version of him. Maybe one time it’s the Honeymoon in Vegas version (complete with Hawaiian shirt or Elvis outfit).

Seeing a handful of different throwback Nic Cage characters showing up as his conscience at various situations in the movie would have been brilliant! And a great way to truly celebrate this eccentric, eclectic man.

Instead, it was just….decent.
Missed an opportunity to REALLY have some fun with this and do something NEXT LEVEL.

That's true! But there might have been legal issues or budgetary limits.
There was undediably more potential in this movie, but after all it was fine and worked the way it was.
However, I found the first half stronger, with a somewhat lackluster second half.
