Loved the first 3, but this a letdown.

Big step down in quality compared to the last trilogy. Way too slow and too much of the runtime is just spent meandering on familiar story beats. Didn't care for the new characters either. Looking forward to where they take it next based on the ending, but can't see myself ever revisiting this one. Felt like a slog to get through.

I don't think any apes movie will ever top Battle for the Planet of the Apes anyways

Yeah, I wouldn't say its bad but it definitely feels like the quality entries are behind this series.

If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve -https://youtu.be/3ZvRwxcZjic

I thought Dawn was the weakest of the reboot films. It had some good scenes, good acting, and got where it needed to go storywise, but it played it safe and was boring and predictable. This one was more interesting, particularly the fact they FINALLY created a fully realized global ape society.

Just saw the film and came here to say the exact same thing. It all was so creatively bankrupt. The villain was rubbish and there was not much excitement to any of it.

Not only did Andy Serkis’ commanding performance help carry the original trilogy but the screenplays were so much better with much better pacing and thrills.

Turns out Josh Friedman wrote this film and he’s also responsible for Terminator: Dark Fate and Avatar 2 which I didn’t like either, his writing is just so bland and forgettable.

Agreed....I liked all three 2010s Ape movies, but this was dull for the most part. Also didn't really warm up to any characters.
