The Blair Witch Project or Paranormal Activity

both have a 6.4, which is more scary?

Love both and the rest of PA. I still have to go with Blair witch

I think both are scary in their own ways, PA1 gave me nightmares, but I found something very 'chilling' about the part in TBWP when they're in the tent at night.

Blair Witch all the way. Paranormal Activity didn't really do it for me, I think there was only like 1 or 2 moments that kind of had me freaked out, but 99% of the movie was just boring.

As for Blair Witch, that movie was so perfectly made, and defines the found footage genre. There are sooo many unsettling, creepy moments. You are never bored, and you actually give a sh!t about the characters whereas Mica and Kate you don't really care that much about. When Josh goes missing in Blair Witch you are generally worried for him.. when you hear him screaming in the distance at night in the woods it's really haunting.

It's pretty ironic because I didn't really care that much for Blair Witch when I first watched it on VHS when it first came out... after seeing it numerous times over the past couple years I've grown to love it.

Blair Witch Project - 9/10
Paranormal Activity - 2/10

BWP 4/10
PA 3/10

so many movies, so little time

The Blair Witch Project is a life time more scary than Paranormal Activity. The idea of being trapped in the woods with no way out with something stalking you is more scary than being in a comfortable suburban home with a demon.

Blair Witch is scarier with better acting. I know Blair Witch effectively kickstarted the whole found-footage gimmick, and but PA is honestly more of a simple, "gimmicky" horror movie. I like it; I recommend it to anyone interested in horror/found footage. But I think it's just a lesser film. It does it what it does very well, but it's a one trick pony.

Blair Witch's found footage quality is also superior, i.e. more naturalistic than PA. It's hard to put my finger on how to explain that. But it's like how when you see really bad found footage movies, and the way scenes are made or how the camera is moved, it all kinda looks "fake" or "boring". That's what I'm talking about. Again, I still very much like PA (part 1 anyways). It just doesn't do this aspect as well as Blair Witch.

PA for me. I thought it kept tension well throughout the whole movie. BW, while great as well, was pretty dull (scare wise, not overall) until about the 3/4 mark.

So, love both, but PA for scares.
