Well, how was she to know what would happen? You could be snatched and locked up in a trunk in the parking lot of a store yet I'm sure you don't take an arsenal of weapons just to go grocery shopping. Bad things could happen anywhere at any time, yet we all take that for granted assuming they won't. I think it's natural to just assume you're safe and sound until you have evidence otherwise. They say hindsight is 20/20 after all.

I would never go out into the middle of nowhere by myself ever. Of course she could never have imagined this would happen but I'd still be fearful something happening. If you are snatched from a parking lot there is more chance of someone seeing you being snatched and either coming to help you or calling the police. Being alone in the woods alone surrounded by empty woods where you can be buried alone is insanity. Anyone can come knocking at your door. It reminds me of 127hrs, just don't go anywhere alone. You are more than likely to survive if sh-- happens if there are 2 of you.

You are more likely to be near someone willing to "snatch" you up in a city though, just by the numbers alone...

I say middle of nowhere is the better choice, in real life anyway. In movies it's never a good idea!

Not to mention everyone in that town except for the sheriffs wife and daughter seem to be a racist, psychotic, law breaking, inbred, and/or douchebag.

it wasn't really a "remote cabin". It's not like she was alone in the Alaska wilderness hundreds of miles from civilization. There were clearly other people in the area. Plenty of people live alone in rural areas so i don't see what would be strange or "unacceptable" about visiting or staying in a rural area alone.
