So at what point did you know? SPOILERS

I diddn't know anything about this movie before seeing it so I wasn't looking for a twist but some some things caught my attention.

1) When the tourist first gets attacked in the hotel bedroom the morning after the kiss he scales across some roof tops and balconies without any hesitation. While this diddn't give it away to me I thought it to be a bit strange for a teacher.

2) When the crime boss kingpin strangles one of his men, I got the feeling that it was pretty cliché and to not expect much in the way of intelligence form the movie.

3) I only guessed it was him when he excaped from the police at the end and the head police guy kept saying he will turn up.

So when did you guess it was him?

I had slight doubts at the beginning with the whole letter and dude on the train scheme, except at that point I would have thought Elise knew who he was. I was only sure he was Pierce after he decided to stay in Venice, especially with the "James Bond"-ish too nice looking white suit.

Me too. From the train scene onward I felt so sorry for Frank and figured he was going to have a very very bad day.

After the arrest.
When I read the cast and saw that there was no other important actor that could be the villain.
You cannot hire a low budget actor for that role, and there was no important actor.
So Pearce could only be Depp

I came to this board just to discuss this. I knew it was him when they meet for dinner, and he asks her - "What's he like"?...The way he asks is such a giveaway. Hence the whole movie got ruined for me.

When she met him in the train, I just expected it to be him, it reminded me of Charade. As it moved along I got more and more certain.
