I think the disaster movie used to be a staple of the summer season and that this shows a willingness by people to still want to see such big spectacle on the big screen. Plus, its all done quite well. It's not a great movie but it keeps you glued to the screen I feel. And Powell is very charismatic and Edgar Jones isn't bad to look at either.

If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve - https://youtu.be/5zZbDSgfmsU

Twister is a beloved movie especially in the Midwest where it was made. I watch it every year during severe weather season. Even if its not a direct sequel its a throwback to the 90s era disaster movies and is meant to be entertainment not lecturing.

It’s a fun popcorn flick that plays well on the big screen and makes for a fun evening out.

The original movie drew $1 billion when adjusted for inflation. And the great reviews have helped

It's raking in cash because they made a super fun, popcorn thriller that didn't preach at the audience. If they had gone the route of pushing "climate change" it would've made half as much. Nobody wants to be preached at in a movie.

Because these are the other movies playing:

Deadpool & Wolverine
Trap
Harold and the Purple Crayon
Borderlands
Alien: Romulus
Despicable Me 4
André Rieu’s 2024 Maastricht Concert: Power of Love
Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Offenbach) French w/e.s.t. - Metropolitan Opera

Oh, and don't forget: 5 other Metropolitan Opera shows.
