Why is every female black detective a lesbian?

Love the show. Just curious why most of the shows I’ve seen the past year with a tough female black detective, they end up being a lesbian. And they’re wives are usually pregnant. Not griping of course. Just curious. Seems a bit trite at this point.

reply

I havne't seen much of this but, assuming it's true, it's probably just because it's a cliche tough cop background. (I was rewatching Die Hard yesterday, and Carl Winslow is telling McClane how his wife is working on their first child.)

reply

Yeah but Winslow wasn’t a lesbian.

I think this is just a case of appeasing a significant demographic. Women have taken over large swaths of the workforce, mostly white women but black women have been doing better than ever before as well. Black men are not doing well in the workforce. So, my theory is that black women who purchase Hulu will be more happy to see a professional black female that has a female girlfriend/wife because black men just aren't in the picture personally nor professionally.

This is just my theory I definitely could be wrong!

Black women are some of the most averse to homosexuality, so this has nothing to do with catering to that demographic.

reply

Black women are some of the most averse to homosexuality…

Maybe that’s why. Shows are force feeding it to that demographic to fight their objections.

reply

That's exactly what they're doing.

And eventually people will cave when the only thing available to consume is brainwashing propaganda.

reply

Do your predictable thing, oh-so pleasant and accepting anti-wokesters (cons) who live on these boards.

But OP, what other shows that you’ve been watching? Where?

You know what, fuggetaboutit. If this show was the only one with such characters, that would be enough to infuriate the woke-obsessed mediocre white reactionary babybros who scream, duh, woke and agenda 24/7 over anything that isn’t reich wing and centrist boomer approved. Yeah, ok projecting agendist reich. (Btw, if you’re not one of these raging reactionaries but still think this is something that should be brought up, then alright.) But no matter how they approach “matters” like these, it’s gonna be a problem for the aforementioned reactionaries regardless. Lol, at the same time it’s like Hollywood hears their constant anti-woke (pro-exclusion) crying and goes, “oh, you triggered again? Well, we’re gonna give you some more where that came from!.” (Shhh: they truly don’t care about the complaints coming from those who want things to go back to the way they were.) And yes, cons and the “libs” Bill Mahers of the world… Some of you not saying the quiet part out loud can claim all this “pc” stuff you can’t stand today just doesn’t equal good storytelling (it should be done right!), but when all is said and done ya know damn well virtually everything these days is “forced diversity” and woke this and that to your fragile traditional butts. Stay mad as ya do best.

reply

None of what you said addressed OP's point, and you seem to be gloating in bringing adversity to people's psychological and emotional states to push propaganda down people's throats.

You're kind of the exact reason why so many people hate the woke nonsense and SJWs in general. Smug, narcissitic, self-indulgent, and completely sociopathic.

Majority of people aren't part of the Rainbow Reich (I know this is shocking, but the reality is that a large portion of Americans are so inundated with this propaganda that they actually believe that the alphabet soup group is nearly FIVE TIMES larger than what they actually are, and that's all due to the predictive programming people like you champion and deride others for noticing. By the way, here's the Gallup poll showing how ignorant Americans are and how brainwashed they are to this Rainbow Reich nonsense: https://news.gallup.com/poll/259571/americans-greatly-overestimate-gay-population.aspx)

Also, to OP's point, I noticed the exact same thing in The Wire. Tough black female cop? Oh, she's also a lesbian. Same thing in the game Dishonored. Disabled, cyborg, black woman? Oh, she's also a lesbian. Same thing with Agents of Mayhem. Tough, black, female soldier? Oh, she's also a lesbian. Batwoman? Tough black female fighter? Oh, she's also a lesbian. Equalizer on CBS? A tough, black, female investigator who don't need no man? Oh, she's ALSO a lesbian.

Majority of us are just sick of all the Rainbow Reich propaganda and the smug narcissists who keep force-feeding it on us at every turn.

The End of the Fucking World

SO...5 SHOWS?...OUT OF HOW MANY SHOWS?...5000 OR SOMETHING...GOOD CALL.

reply

Reread my post, clueless. I said, “why most of the shows I’ve seen the past year with a tough female black detective…”

reply

I READ IT...SO FIVE SHOWS YOU HAPPENED TO WATCH OUT OF ABOUT 5000 SHOWS AT THE TIME FEATURED THAT CHARACTER...WEAK BULLSHIT POST, BRO.

reply

You’re still missing the point, Kluelesswolski.

reply

NO...YOU ARE...PROBABLY FOR LIFE.

reply

I agree. There’s no way there are “5000 shows” featuring “a tough female black detective.” I’d be surprised if there were a dozen in the history of TV. And if you’re finding a third of them portray the character as gay with a pregnant wife, that sounds a lot like a trope

reply

OH GOOD...TWO KNUCKLEHEADS AGREE ABOUT SOMETHING RIDICULOUS.😘

reply

Writers need to stop portraying minority characters in a one dimensional trope bull shit. I’m surprised you have a problem with this benign concept but I don’t really care either.

reply

"Infuriate"? The OP actually said "not griping of course. Just curious." Your leftist derangement is showing.

reply

that opening scene with her cursing and talking about herman's head was terrible.

reply

Maybe because writing a gay white male detective would be more controversial and could potentially scandalise more people, since there are more white people in the US.

There's probably a gay person on the writing team and that was, they thought, a less risky way of using their own life in writing the show. And if the writer is white themselves it means they can't be accused of just writing stereotype black characters.

Or maybe it wasn't written with any specific gender race or sexuality at all and they just liked the two actors for the role of the detective and their partner (domestic, not police).

reply

I think most young women in streaming series and movies I've seen in the last couple of years have been lesbian or bisexual, especially if they're black. I doubt there will ever be a series again in which all the young women are straight. In the current television/film universe, about half the general population, and nearly the entire female population under the age of fifty, seems to be gay. It's an interesting phenomenon.

reply

To promote homosexuality. Once I saw that pregnant lesbian come out I skipped over that entire plot line (which was surprisingly long since I had to jump ahead pretty far and they came back to it more than once. But despite missing all those minutes I didn't seem to lose any of the story. So it must have just been pure propaganda with no connection to the plot.

reply

Like I said above, it doesn’t matter to me. It just seems odd such that specific character type was appearing so much.

reply

It should not be odd if you consider who controls Hollywood and what their agenda is. They are doing this in everything. Movies, TV Series, commercials. The entire Western Media is pretty much non stop degeneracy propaganda.

reply

Fat black lesbian detectives with pregnant wives control Hollywood? 😳

reply

No. The fat black lesbians are simply the weapon.

reply

"Gay people are in tv/movies" oh the horror.

reply

You missed the point of the conversation.

reply

Oh, I replied to you by mistake.
