I must have been living under a rock because I just discovered this series. Currently binge watching on MHZ, I find the series utterly engrossing. Haveping studied modern European history, I have always wanted to see the facts of life under Nazi occupation be portrayed. I think this series does an admirable job of getting as close to the truth as is possible.
shareYes, even though they have some unbelievable incidents at times, it's really good storytelling. The ending where lot of people are trying to misrepresent what really happened for selfish purposes -- so typical in real life -- is the icing on the cake.

Even before the series end, there was that mob that attacked Daniel and Hortense. Several members were actual denouncers and collaborators; they just weren’t openly sleeping with an SD officer. They just sensed the shift and covered themselves in self-righteous indignation. When I was watching the series I was thinking about Irene Nemerovsky (Suite Francaise) who was hiding out for years but was denounced by collaborators.
