My apologies to Kevin Smith and everyone else involved...

I wish I went to go see this opening weekend instead of waiting to rent it. I should have had more faith instead of judging the movie based on the terrible trailers and overbearing advertising that made me sick of the movie before I saw it.

Cop out was a great movie especially for a fan of the 80s/90s buddy cop genre. It was full of great homages (pronounced with a soft 'h') to films like Lethal Weapon, Running Scared, 48 Hours, and Beverly Hills Cop.

And quite contrary to what everyone else on this board is saying, I thought it was pretty damn funny. Spoiler, the scene where Sean William Scott's character falls and breaks his neck after the hard core action movie bad-ass buildup with 'Black Betty' playing in the background forced me to pause the movie until I stopped laughing.

I laughed enough to enjoy it as a comedy and it was well-made and well-acted enough to stand alone as a buddy cop movie. Not to mention that Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan had excellent chemistry; a 21st century Riggs and Murtaugh. Solid flick in my book.

I don't think some of you fully understood that this film was a comedy before watching it. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's a good film. I enjoyed it, and that's what matters to me. If you watch it expecting a lot, you are going to be disappointed, especially if you are expecting something like Die Hard.

I was also happily surprised. Smith really utilized Morgan's comedic, derange style. The all-star cast was also surprising. Usually, if there are a lot of stars in just one movie, I tend to assume the experience of watching it will be complete *beep* The only time my cynical view is sideline was watching the movie "Crash."

Aside from the comment up above, I'm usually a decent human being.

This HAS to be a joke comment. There wre no homages whatsoever. This movie is terrible and is when the world finally woke up and realized that TRacy Morgan is simply not funny and that Kevin Smith is still trying to trade off ONE movie he made in 1994.

I loved it. It was fun. Enough said.

i like buddy cop films, including the lethal weapon series, 48 hours and beverly hills cop. maybe not as much as i used to, but i still enjoy them.
i'm also a kevin smith fan, the kind that will happily watch every other film he made (yes, even jersey girl) if i happen to come across it on tv and such.
but this one, some1 else nailed my own experience of watching it as to hoping it gets better when it only gets worse. just doesn't work. weak story, weak script and much too little decent moments to redeem it. i keep convincing myself not to count it with the rest of smith's body of work since it wasn't his writing.

This movie sucks. Kev even has essentially said so himself time and again. The stories from his own mouth make it clear filming and working with Willis was living hell. It seem's stallone wasn't the first to discover the "greedy & lazy" part of that actor's style. Kev has made a bunch of great movies without question , but unlike Jersey Girl I wont put all the blame on him here for it being a dud. He had a bag of hot air to work with and in turn crap is what came out in the end. But back to the point.....this movie sucked , bad.
