This film is Horrible, or did I miss something.

I tried to watch this film because I watched The Suicide Squad and really enjoyed it, so I said why not try the original.

Watched about 30 minutes before I turned it off.

I thought the characters were just so boring.
I never met a group of people I did cared nothing about,

Yet,
watching the recent film, I found funny and entertaining.

And Jared Leto because a tool for that performance.
Yeah, okay.

No, you didn't miss anything. It's pretty shite. Saw it once in theatres when it came out. Never rewatched it & don't really plan to.

It just left a bad taste in my mouth

It made $717 million with no China release, The SS will barely make 200m and will be a total failure.

Good call, it was a total flop.

A disturbingly boring film. It's a reminder to me that it still takes skill to create an action film that's just mindless fun.

There are so many ways this movie could have been better, and instead we got something really generic. I mean how on earth could they mess up that final fight scene with all the water. That should have been so cool, and yet it wasn't. Poorly implemented slowmo, uninteresting fight choreography, and poor cinematography.

Hell, that scene where Will Smith was supposed show off his aiming abilities by shooting everything in front of the cops. It was supposed to make him look like a badass which it did, but it's boring even by 80s movie standards. Compare that to any of the final shoot outs in Commando.

Story wise, the film fell short. But it's not even enjoyable as a mindless rump cause it's just not fun enough.

No, you didn't miss anything. It was bad. Very short list of pluses:

1) Harley Quinn was good eye candy. Sexier than Harley in the newest one, actually, though her being part of an assault team to take on monsters makes no sense.

2) Diablo (the Jay Hernandez character) was actually a bit interesting.

But the way the whole thing was put together, edited, the use of music cues, was just junk.

Jared Leto must have GoPro footage oh him sucking off Hollywood Executives to have secured so many movie roles for so long.

I somehow liked it he first time I watched it back in 2017 on Blu-ray. Maybe I was distracted by Harley Quinn and the soundtrack. Years went by and I still believed the critics were wrong. Then I watched it sometime last year, along with all of the DCEU as part of a long overdue revisit/reevaluation. I paid more attention to it and realized there's barely a plot! It's dull, it's swamp green, Jared Leto's Joker was worse than I remembered.

The film's strongest/er assets are Harley Quinn and the soundtrack, to be honest. Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) on her own was pretty good. Will Smith was respectable.

Almost all of the DCEU films I ended up changing my opinion on upon revisiting, with the exception of Wonder Woman. That was the rare good one. It's a miracle that Zack Snyder's Justice League is the masterpiece it is... maybe because he had more time to work on it.

The post-Wonder Woman films are infinitely better than this, with the obvious exception of Joss Whedon's theatrical cut of Justice League. The more recent The Suicide Squad is light years better than its predecessor, as is Birds of Prey.

This didn't age very well. lol

It wasn't good when it was new!

Never seen such an incoherent major motion picture.

It certainly wasn't a flop like some people were saying.
